Easiest 400fps to 350fps method for SRC G36k?
Hello,
Given I've fallen in love with the SRC G36K (gen3) and am targetting it as my main AEG; whats the easiest way to quickly switch it from outdoor FPS of 400 down to 350 if I want to play indoors? |

Don't buy that just yet until your Age verified you'll have way more choices and can make a better decision . but its just a spring swap buy a new spring open the gearbox and swap it out

If you want to switch it back and forth their is no "easy" way. the easiest way would be to buy a second gearbox with a lower powered spring and swap the two boxes.

ICS is the way to go then. Split gearbox = < 5 minutes to change speeds.
Either that or a SystemA PTW (~30 seconds, possibly less to change the speed) Another option is the STAR (ARES) series of AEG's which feature a "quick spring swap". I'm not sure if it's featured on all AEG's however their M249 Para does have this feature.

But the easy way out is let the gun doc do the spring changing for you.
ICS Split gearbox 5mins? You must be doing this up side down with your eyes shut if it takes you 5 mins, it takes me less then 30 secs. |

+1 to the ICS split gearbox, I owned one before my PTW and it's not a bad setup. |

It's easy to get to the mechbox, so just swap the spring.

Not everyone does a good job of opening the mechbox to change the spring, though.
Maybe he won't be able to reassemble it with the anti-reversal latch installed or something.

I would never recommend changing the spring in a gearbox to a beginner. V3 might be a better design than V2 but it still is hell especially with the trigger mechanism and the popping-out anti-reversal latch. Anything that goes wrong in there to someone who is unfamiliar with gearbox internals is likely to damage some parts as well.
The easiest way is to use a velocity reducer but that only works for semi-auto. He's talking about the SRC G36 so PTW, ICS, Star G36 etc. comments aren't going to help him.

Velocity reducers aren't worth the material their made of, IMHO. They may work the first few mags but thats not enough to warrant that as an effective reduction of FPS for an entire game. Best solution is to become friends with your local gun doc. You live in Toronto there should be more than enough people willing to help you out in this regard.
If you don't want a 400 fps gun then why buy one? There are plenty guns in the classifieds to be had that already shoot at 350. |

why not just use 350 for outdoor also? i thought 400 was the max and not the goal?
