Kraken Gearbox jam
My brother open up gearbox and replace one stuff(I haven't ask what is name of thing he replace. It look like tube that attach to one end of spring) then put all together under direction of youtube (not whole, just 2 gear left that has do with semi and auto selector). when he test it, he manage to get one shot before it jam. Motor still run but gear won't move, my brother and I try to move but it is stuck.

its a v3 gearbox, there is a little hex screw at the bottom of the motor, try turning it right one or 2 turns, and see if that works.

Hey i'm deaf_shooter's brother, i replaced the nylon bushings with metal ones, i added a bearing spring guide and a new piston head. When i put it back together, i put a fully charged battery on it, it cranked once, went bang :P (louder than i remember it banging before) then it wouldn't shoot again. The motor still works when i pull the trigger, you can hear it struggleing when the trigger is pulled, when i took the motor off the mechbox but left the electrical connected, it spins when the trigger is pulled. the gears inside turn kinda but they're real hard to move (i'd assume cause they're pushing a spring). One thing i did notice though is that with the new metal bushings, they seemed to go through the mechbox housing a little further than the old nylon ones. not a huge issue but one of the bushings kind of pushes on a plastic piece on the outside of the mechbox. my brother pointed out that when he moves that piece the gun seems to fire.... kinda weird. any suggestions?

Your shimming is off, by the sounds of it everything is shimmed way too tight.
You may also need a "selector" switch that can accommodate normal sized bushings. Last edited by Amos; December 27th, 2009 at 16:06.. |

did you re-did a proper shim job? a shim job is mandatory with new bushing...

i put the gears in and shimmed them before adding anything else back into the mechbox, closed it and spun the gears. they spun fine so i figured i was good to go. i didn't put the screws in to hold the mechbox together though when i tested it. maybe i'll try re-shimming and see if that solves the problem. here's to hoping :P

Once everything was put in, how many revolutions of "Free spin" did you get out of the sector gear?

I reopen and shim everything. I double check to make sure both side has shim, then spin them with hand one gear by one. After I do get all gear inside. I attach motor and apply grease to gear. Plus I also do put bearing oil to where bearing is. Then I hold trigger in auto, until grease spread even on gears. After this, I put everything in again. I test once agan and same problem appear again. I try other battery because first one is weakened from free span for grease reason. same problem remain. It still have hard time. then I grab my Kraken's fresh charge from overnight. it now work like charm.
It make me think if Battery was issue in first place. Edit: try to improved my grammar

aka SNK or Shaniqua

Do you know how to shim properly? Was the gearbox definetely screwed together?
If that is fine then I am pretty sure it's your battery. It's getting old/damaged and doesn't have enough power to turn over your motor since the spring in the Kraken is good for 400 FPS.
