JG HK416 HK417-style stock mounting question

I have (should receive it soon) an JG HK416 but the one I ordered could only come with a PEQ box/6-pos stock. I then ordered a HK417-style stock from ebaybanned to fit my HK416 but some people in the reviews seem to say that I need to buy a buffer tube but they don't specify if it's for m4 or other models. Does that mean that the current configuration of my 416 won't allow me to install this stock or the gun already have the good tube to mount it?

I'm kind of confused...

The 6-position LE stock and 417-style stock both mount on the same buffer tube. Once you remove the old stock, the new one will slide on and you'll be good to go.

you'll probably need a new tube if you want to run a battery in the stock but if you want it just to have the 417 stock then it should just slide on with zero issue.

Yeah I was thinking of running a battery in the stock. What is the difference between the tube I have and the one I would need?

Since you want to run the battery wires from the mechbox out the back to the stock you need a "channel" to run them through.

On the M4/416 lower receiver, there is a stub that sticks out and the stock pipe slides over that. Some stock tubes have a channel/flat molded into it (on the bottom inside) so the wires can run inbetween the body stub and the stock tube (it's a tight fit usually...and some fitting may be required).

So, there are two ways to run the wires:
1. Cut/mod the body stub so the wires can run though it and out the back...they'll go through the center of the stock tube and eventually meet up with the battery.
2. Get a stock pipe with a battery wire channel already molded into it...run the wires "pinched" between the stub and tube.

If you remove your 6 position stock and remove your stock tube, look inside the end closest to the body...if it's just plain round, your stock tube doesn't have the channel. If there's a channel, it'll be obvious.

Hint: When you do it...leave the wires long and test fit everything together. Nothing sucks more than being a half inch too short and struggling to hook up your battery every time.

Best of luck,

Tys
