Questions For Killbucket- Top Ten!

If you have a question about something exclusively killbucket or just want to know how I still have all my fingers, this is the place. I'll get started off with the questions I answer the most in my daily email piles.
#!1
Q: How many cans of paint do you have? looks like 100s Laughing every one better than the last
A: No Idea.Racks full. But I never seem to have the ONE color I'm needing!
#2
Q: How many airsoft guns do you own?
A: No idea of how many airsoft guns I have. I started to count them one day, got to 60, and thought: "what's more sick, having this many guns, or having to know the EXACT number?" I quit counting.
#3
Q: Why don't you make metal-based customs?
A: Cost. And enough mechs are already reworking airsoft exotica. I like the "real world" guns we ALL can afford to start with.
#4
Q: Can you make me a custom bracket for my gun?
A: Two words: Wing It. No matter where you inquire, having anything MADE for you is costly. And this isn't really "what I do".
#5
Q: Can you make me a machine gun body "bare" without internals?
A: I'm retired. End of discussion. The site keeps Wifey from squawking about the answer to question #2.
#6
Q: How did you get started in airsoft?
A: Just like tokyo Marui, I got bored with RC trucks. I was always seeing a clone of my latest in some other guy's hands, and he was always picking his nose. Too risky.
#7
Q: What's the best advice you can give a airsoft mech who just started?
A: STANDARDIZATION. Look it up. Note how many parts are actually common to all airsoft guns. Little shape changes are the only REAL differences. Repeat good ideas, re-use them in subsequent projects. Take time to analyze why a design failed.
#8
Q: What's the best gun for an airsoft sniper?
A: A LONG one. Please be aware, sniping ISN'T skirmishing. If you want to do battle, skip anything that tastes like sniper.
#9
Q: I'm gonna upgrade my "SIMA" M14. Bad Mull barrel, Ling Harms tactical rails, Hystema gears, and a Mello Kitty Turbo StickerKit. Is this a good setup?
A: Yes, but you've paid for a whole Hystema now. Work up to fancy stuff, get your fun out of those CHEAP stock parts first.
#10
Q: My buddy has the new (or old) Lockheed SPR. He says it's WAY better than anything that came before (or since). I can't sleep now.
A: It's called "Bragging Rights". My brother in law will tell you all about his Cobra Kit car. I couldn't sleep either, until I saw the cracked, dusty, rat-infested mess it actually IS.

What's on YOUR mind today?

What material do you use for those custom creations you have shared with us?

How much time does one gun take on average?

Why have you decided against going public for those willing to spend the money to have you pimp their gun?

What came first, the chicken or the egg?

6mm and 3mm ABS sheet from www.interstateplastics.com in Sacramento.
About a week.
If I open my order book, it gets swamped, NOW. I can only make one gun at a time, and it got to be a nightmare, watching a wait list grow, and listening to people get unhappy waiting.

I don't know, but a chicken omelet is about the most perverted thing I ever heard of.

Hey, that's my latest facebook status!

I have a
www.shopbottools.com

I'm NOT kidding:
A coping saw, a bar clamp, an electric drill, a sturdy kitchen table. I made dozens of 1919 Brownings this way before I got a scroll saw, which is what YOU should look for FIRST:

A Scroll Saw. And one of those small bench-top drill presses that Harbor Freight has for under $50.

I got a half-finished "Barrett 30" out of the shed, as of the 15th, it had been gathering dust for two years:

Breaking out th' calipers.

I didn't have a CNC then
