Rear Flip up sight
Hello guys, I was extremely excited when I received my rear flip up sight for my CA M15A4 CQB. When I was mounting it, I realized that it wasn't able to fully push down because it is being blocked by a small groove of my gun. Ive attached a pic below since a picture is worth 1000 words.
The problem is, Ive mounted the sight on the very last rail already and it wont go anymore back. Is there any way I can rectify this problem without carving another rail in my gun? Any help would be much appreciated as its bugging me like crazy! |

Is there a flip apeture (sure I mis-spelt that) in the sight? 90deg bent piece with two different sized holes to look through...
If so, flip it and see if the sight lies flat. Mine does the same, but lies flat if the apeture thing is flipped the other way. Tys |

The ending of the flat-top on that gun looks odd. It comes out instead of cutting in. I'll edit this post with a picture so you can see how mine looks. I guess you'd just have to move the sight forward so it can flip down, at least for now.
EDIT: Nevermind, I found a picture of a real M16 series upper receiver that shows it. Look at the end of the top rail

WHOA I had it wrong. The way the light was in the first picture it looked like the flat-top bulged out at the back but the ones you just posted made it more visible. Sorry about that!

If you move it forward a few notches maybe those bumps on the sight will sink into the rail slots? O.o

naww i tried that too, I think the width of the sight is too narrow to be able to fold down without obstructing the side of the rail Damn, and i spent alot of money on this Bomber sight.

Move it back, to the farthest position, because if you look at the stock iron sights, they are all the way back on the top rail. Try that see if it's any help

I would like to see the width of everything from behind. I understand that it seems the issue is stemming from just above the charging handle where there appears to be a little bump stopping the sight from laying down.
Is there any chance you can post a picture from the rear, or maybe from an angle and from the rear as well?

If you look at my pics above, the sight is already attached to the most rear rail. I cant move it back anymore

Thanks for taking the time to take those pictures, they were very helpful. Any pictures of the bomber sights that I had found online did not offer very many good angles.
Taking a quick glance at the new pics it would seem as if the sight was designed to accommodate the width of the rail on the receiver when it was laying down, however it looks as if its circular shape on the sides is preventing it from going all the way down. Something does not seem right and Im going cross eyed staring at these pictures. By chance do you know anyone else with an armalite that you could try mounting it to to see what happens? Preferably a different brand if possible.

From all the pictures I have googled, everyone can fold down their sight completely flat. I can bring it to Huang's and try it on his armalites, but other than that, im out of ideas I think the CA armalites has one less rail at the back. If this rail was present, the sight would fold down perfectly. |

Okay, after debating for a few days, and contemplating on resolving this issue, I think I have decided. I think im going to carve another rail at the back. Even though I have all the tools (dremel, dremel heads, sandpaper), im scared sh*tless as this is my new gun. Im prob going to mask all the other parts and cover it with a towel to prevent it from being scratched... What do you think? Do you think im crazy?
