systema gearbox power plug?
hi,
i have a simple question.... i just bought a systema magnum gearbox, and want to change the large tamiya plug for a deans to plug the battery in.. since systema's wires are clear and one color only (stupid), which one is pos., and which one is neg.? the tamaiya plug has a square end and partially circular end. which one of these is the pos. and which is the neg.? anyone know? thanks for any help! ginnz. |

Partially circular is negative and square is positive.

Hrm, thats sorta odd. I bought a system gearbox not too long ago, and even though the wires were all clear, right below the connector the wire which normally would be red, had a little red tag on it to signify that it is red.

Does it have a mosfet already installed?
If not...the negative (black) wire goes straight from the battery connector to the motor lead (which should be the lead at the "rear" of the grip area). If you attach a voltmeter to that lead and the square plug of the connector, you should get a continuity signal (i.e. no break). Conversely if you test the other lead/connector...you will get a break unless you pull the trigger. Unless I've got it ass backwards...for mini plugs it's "Red (+ve) into round". For large plugs it's the other way around (so for yours +ve/Red is square). Also...before you cut the old connector off...you can plug a battery into it and see if it fires. If it does...then just match up the mechbox connector wiring accordingly...NiMh/NiCd batteries almost always have colour coded wires (but I've see some that were both black). LiPo's and systema PTW batteries have silver wires...at least with PTW batteries you can follow the wires to see which end goes to what end of the cell. ***edit*** do yourself, and everyone who looks at that mechbox later, a favour and put a bit of red shrink wrap on the wire once you've figured out which is which! |
