Ehobby Asia
On Juy 16 2009 I purchased a 10.8v 3300mAh PEQ battery box from Ehobbyasia's ebay store. When I received this product it had some very minor physical damage (this did not bother me as I could glue the decorations back on) and would not hold a charge. I contacted Ehobby and asked for either a replacment product or a refund. They emailed me back and asked me to try to discharginf the battery and to try to charge again. I followed their instruction as got the same results. They informed me that I could ship the product back to them for a replacment or a 90% refund. When I asked if they would cover the cost for shipping they replied no sorry. I believe that I should not have to cover the cost of shipping for a defective product for them to replace. On there ebay store it claims that they test all products before shipping to prevent defective products. An obvious lie as the employee whom I emailed said that they do not have time to test batteries before shipping. I should not have to pay shipping costs when they did not test my product before shipping as they claim to.
I have open a dispute with paypal and will post updates.

Tough to hear, I've been shafted by eHobby before and PayPal ruled in their favor.
They actually state in their policy that it is the buyers responsibility to pay for shipping costs. So you will probably not be successful. |

I saw that but they also state they test all products before shipping and they didn't.

Update.
After leaving a message where I refused to pay shipping costs due to there lack of product testing as they state on their website I got this message. "Dear Buyer, Would you please check the postage fees for returning the item to Hong Kong, thanks."

So after a week ehobby has not responded to my answer in paypal so I escalated it to a claim. Well Paypal ruled in my favor I am entitled to a full refund, however I have to ship the item back to them first. So I have to pay $40 in shipping to get my $89 bucks back. Stay away from EhobbyAsia. Yeah they may have a decent selection but if they send you a defective item it will cost too much to ship back.

Wow, I'm really surprised to hear that. I've had nothing but good experiences with eHobby (they even sent a replacement for something that got trashed by Canada Post).
And what are you sending that's costing $40 to ship?

A 10.v peq2 battery. I checked on Canada Post and thats what they quoted. And they offered to send me a replacment too but I had to ship the defective one back first. I have no problem with that I just don't think I should have to pay for it.

$40 still seems high. I just checked on the CP website, a 1 kg shoebox (12 x 6 x 6 inches) came out to $32 after taxes. More AN/PEQ-ish dimensions (8x4x4") at 500g was more along the lines of $16 (Small Packet / International Air)
