TM Desert Eagle GBB = Full Metal?

Hey guys. I'm currently doing a private purchase (outside of ASC), from someone.

The person is selling a Tokyo Marui Desert Eagle GBB (Greengas not C02), and claims its "all metal, besides the grip."

And now, heres my question. I've searched the forums, with no avail. My computer seems to love to freeze on this webite when I search sometimes.

Is this person full of BS? From what I've read, the TM Desert Eagle is NOT "all metal". This person claims that it is "all metal, besides the grip", yet AFAIK there isnt a "full/all metal" version of this gun made by TM.

Is there a full/all metal version of this GBB Desert Eagle made by TM?

Thanks.

There isn't, but there is a Zeke metal kit for it. Ask him if he has installed the metal kit, and it is third party, or if it came that way. If he claims it came that way, then he is BSing you.

Japanese law prohibits pistols to be full metal or metal slided in Japan... guess where are all big (pre-clone invasion) manufacturers are based, Japan.

Hmm, would you say its worth about $180ish? The guys asking for a little more, but hes open to offers. I just have to find out, if hes trying to BS me with claims that its all metal. One touch of the gun, probably would tell if its plastic or metal.

180 for a full metal TM Desert Eagle?

Bullshit from the highest of shit mounds.

Isn't the Zeke kit, without the internals, $500 CAD?

And thats why I posted here. Sounds too good to be true.

I wouldnt doubt that its some type of cruel joke, or some springer desert eagle thats been made to look "better". (aka: a scam.)

TM are always almost entirely abs plastic due to Japanese laws. There are metal slides and metal kits, but at least for the pistols the kits are quite rare in country since they're restricted and will jack the price of the pistol up considerably. Slides on the other hand aren't restricted so they're fairly common, still not the cheapest thing in the world but nothing approaching the cost of a kit.

Unfortunately pretty much all the good pistol makers are in Japan so all the really good pistols are going to be abs plastic.

Edit: $180 for a full metal TM DE? not a chance in living hell. Even a stock all plastic TM DE is going to cost nearly three times that amount.

Yea, sounds too good to be true. Definitly. Thanks for your help guys.

I'll give the guy an email and ask for pictures. If I meet up with him to see it, I'll make sure I bring a canister of green gas, to test out the gun and such.

Yet, If its a scam I highly doubt the person will meet up.

(I'll ofcourse ask to test the gun before I even hand him the money. Not gonna risk someone stealing my money and running and leaving me a crappy gun.)

I do appreciate all the help.

Thanks again.

ask him for a pic of the tokyo marui trademark ... 180$ for a marui (even plastic) is VERY cheap!!!

Zeke slides are an extremely costly kit now a days, even when they were readily available they were still fairly expensive.

Now I have purchased a almost new TM DE for $180CAD before, box and all however this was quiet a few years ago. Anyways, I would be extremely skeptical as to whether or not his claim is legitimate. If something sounds to good to be true, it probly is.

If the guy is local...INSIST on meeting and doing the deal face to face (not to be mistaken with doing the deed front to back...LOL). The bit of extra travel and time is well worth it.

If he's local and you can meet, don't pay a cent until you see it in your hands.

Pics can lie. I could take a great photo of a nice GBB that's sitting on a desk...actually, here's one...took 10sec to find one...it'd only take 10 more sec to save it to my own photolibrary....you get the point. (NOTE: The photo was randomly ripped off of google...it's neither a GBB nor is it mine...LOL)

If the guy is ripping you off...doesn't matter if the picture is of the actual item or not. I suppose that you could request that he takes a picture with it on today's newspaper and him holding it with phot ID...(but honestly, I wouldn't do that for anyone who asked...LOL)

If he's not local...then ask someone reputable to have a look at it first (probably at your expense). That way you'll know what's what before you seal the deal.

Otherwise...buyer beware.
