The right gun for me... ?

Hello and thank you for reading my post. I am in the process of trying to decide upon my first "real" airsoft gun and was hoping for some feedback.

First of all, you must understand my dilemma. Several years ago, I was diagnosed with a fairly serious back condition; this will surely effect me if I try to carry a heavy object (ie airsoft gun) for a long period of time (ie a game).

However, I am not willing to sacrifice the realistic nature of airsoft. I would like to get into a more realistic feeling kit and would like to purchase as close to real steel as my budget allows...

This is my basic criteria:

1. Usable for CQB / Outdoor
2. Somewhat realistic(not perfect, but okay...)
3. Affordable (300-400 dollars)
4. Lighter/Manuverable Enough for my back. (Ie: An M4 is too heavy)
5. Upgradeable

My playing style is generally fast paced.Im not very trigger happy and I like to play tactically...

Some ideas I have had :

-Mp5 series (TM or CA)
-AK Series w/folding stock (weight?)
-Other SMG; suggestions?

Also, I have entertained a GBB pistol... would this be feasible?

-I have my eye on Hi Cappa's or a 1911

JG P90 or JG SIG 552. Small, lightweight, easy to maneuver, and can be used for both outdoor and CQB. MP5s are nice too.. though full metal ones aren't all that light (they're not heavy.. but they have a bit of heft).

If you find an M4 too heavy an AK is definetly out of the question... as is almost anything with a metal body.

I would suggest an JG AUG if it isn't too heavy heavy for you(3.2kg). The gun is extremely easy to field strip and to change it from a CQB gun to an outdoor rifle literally takes seconds plus it's compatible with all of TM and CA's upgrades. My 2 cents

I disagree.. other than an L85, the AUG is about the heaviest bullpup in existance. After fielding one for a day it starts to feel quite heavy in the back end.. it has almost no weight forward of the magwell.

Ive shot Marui's and CA's before. How do the JG products stand up?

You could always try a M4 built for CQB there are ones that are shorter then the normal but I don't know how heavy it is so I'm not sure if it would be good choice or not.

Depends on the gun. For the price, JG's really can't be beat. There on the top of the heap of the China clones. Some people put them above TM's.. though I personally wouldn't (except for maybe their P90)

A Tokyo Marui FAMAS fits all those criteria except for upgradeable, but some say that the FAMAS can be upgraded. I would personally recommend the FAMAS. It is a great gun out of the box and doesn't need upgrades as far as I'm concerned.

Well thats good to know about the JG anyways...

Never having shot a bullpup, Im not really sure what to think of P90 / Famas... Im sure I could get used to it. I was under the impression that the Famas was a fairly long gun. Is this true?

Also, I have thought about a shortened M4... but I think it too expensive and heavy, even though it would be nice.

I have another question in this circumstance:

Given that they are the same price, would it be better to buy a new JG gun, or a slightly used/well cared for Marui/CA ?

JGs are solid and realitively cheap guns. Their P90s are very good so I hear.

How about a MP7.....well if it's upgraded it could be used for outdoor, I think. A P90 would be a good choice too

MP7s can't be upgraded that much, after you install the nineball kit you get something like 250fps. Not very nice.

The FAMAS isn't really that big of a gun. I've used it in CQB and I haven't had any problems using it. The gun is 757mm and the inner barrel is 472mm. So its a decently sized gun but the nice thing is that it has such a long barrel in the smaller gun because of the bulpup design. The only drawback for me is that magazines are expensive and must be ordered from Asia. I paid $20 a lowcap from eHobby.
