Black AEG
Ok so I have been holding this in, it was my dream really and couldn't ruin it in any way... But now I think things finally have come to this point.
So Lethbridge Alberta, last august a friend and I went into this paintball store that had moved from another small town. We had heard they had airsoft guns. Walked in to see a wall of paintball guns and a small section of aegs. All weapons were full black with orange flash guard except on SIG 552 (I got that one). One or more AK47 a AK74, m4 and mp5s all in black. Oh and a black SIG, anyway they claimed that a $300 - $400 price tag was because they were unaware of the current market price and that the next order would see a price increase. I got my SIG $280 my buddy got an M4 at $320 (I think) but thought no way another order would get through. March this year more friends went in and came out with an m4 S-system, m14 scout, SAR, AK tactical, Mauzer and colt. Each paid like $400 - $500 and are just loving it, all black models and some have no orange flash (SAR and AK). This was awsome stuff, then we figured out it was all through palco and that the guns were all mid grades. Okay we dealt with it ya we are goona upgrade but then my buddies Colt GBB started messing up and he brought it in to see what they would do. They said they would have to send it accross the border, my friend said he didn't want that and that they should service it in canada. He called back the next week and they had already sent it away. I don't know what to make of this, I was so happy they were getting me my gun, supplying bbs and mags. The sketchy black guns were cool and if they got busted I had my legal SIG... But my friend is moving at the end of the month, he told this store that he was moving AND that he wanted his gun serviced in Canada. Now this store always asks us what we want for them to order but they never call when it comes (popular item) or don't order it (rare item). Thats life, but man when you repeatedly purchase over priced bbs, batteries and mags just to be forgotten on orders or not called or disregarded when it comes to servicing your purchase? What should an honest ASC member do in the case of shadey business and the likes of this? |

Its in Lethbridge Alberta and called Section 8 but officially they are a paintball store doing airsoft I guess. They don't even sell springs or upgrades. Except batteries that are solid blue and unmarked (except voltage ratings and mha) magazines and some ak and m4 handgaurds.

So they paid American prices for these and are going to sell them "at current market prices". Assholes.

It sounds like they had a decent markup on the Palco stuff to begin with.
Maybe someone from Alberta can shed more light on these guys.

Mine is a cybergun SIG 552 and thats all I bought, on the other hand most of those who purchased them wanted black or nothing. That is until they saw the JG M4S I got for $339 at velocity arms back when his A model was on deal. Now they say they could live with a clear reciever.

I like the idea of a local store but this is nuts, I felt like I couldn't even talk about it online here cuz they are all blacks and illegal. Now he screws around with someones $400 gun that might not come back? Who the hell does he think he is?

I don't know where you're getting your information, but all black guns are not illegal. They're just prohibited to import. Tons of people (the vast majority) play airsoft with all black guns.

Sorry thats what I meant to say, importing the guns, that is what he is doing. I was shocked. But I bought my SIG 552 $280 last august and he gets more guns every two or three months.

Don't be shocked. A lot of stupid businesses do it, because all they see is guns they can get for $150 and sell for sub-$400. They continue to do it until they get a nasty letter frm CBSA. Case in point: buyairsoft.ca.

Yeah... I know that store.
I bought some BB's from them one time. Fed like crap in my gun, double feeds, misfeeds, blank firing etc. I felt sorry for my buddy using his PTW. they were chopping the hell out of those BB's. It was pretty much confetti coming out of the end. Only reason I bought a bottle was because we didn't have any more BB's and it would be a while to get any shipped to me with a game coming around the corner. Also just don't go there. I've gotten like 95% of my stuff outside of Alberta (including from overseas), and the other 5% inside.

Sounds good, how long was buyairsoft screwing around before it got the letter or whatever? I Talked with the owner and he was so happy to explain that we can tell anyone where we got it and stuff. Then I talked to the operator (owners son) and the dude was like 'my supplier wants this behind a curtain or in a back room'. So whatever it is they are sketchy and two sided. Sometimes the operator can't even help with his own products, tried to sell me shit grenades that he couldn't explain how worked cuz they failed when he tried them.
Hey L473ncy where ya livin? PM me or something if your around lethbridge cuz there is a couple events around here your welcome to attend. |

Actually I'm in Vancouver right now but I'll be back at the UofL in Fall hopefully.
Really though it's a paintball store which "sells BB guns on the side". There's nothing wrong with that, especially since I play paintball occasionally when I'm invited by friends. Also it sounds like that guy is paranoid like shit. It's not illegal to sell airsoft guns that have somehow made their way in country (especially if it's "old stock" from before 1998) just importation is a problem. That's how the law is to my knowledge but how it plays out might be a different story. You have to keep in mind that they're a business and need to make money, selling sub $150 guns for upwards of $300 is how they're making their profit, I don't see anything wrong with that. I personally wouldn't buy from there but it's a legitimate business model, if it bothers you that much don't go there, vote with your dollar. Remember, a fool and his money are soon separated. If other people are willing to pay exorbant prices like that then all the power to them. Some people will just walk into the Sony store for example and just buy a TV like that whereas some people will look around for deals for the same TB at other places like FS, BB, Newegg, etc.
