Unhappy Part Importation and the PAL

Hey guys I'm kind of in a bind right now.

I recently made a trip to Asia and had the opportunity to hit up a lot of airsoft stores in Japan and Hong Kong. I picked up a lot of PARTS for myself and a few friends. I was bringing them back via my baggage (which I must say was pretty stupid, but I didn't have time on my last leg of the trip to do any shipping) and they were all seized when I landed in Toronto. Since then I have received a notice stating that they are all free to go and being released as they are all legal parts for importation. I called in to the Queen's warehouse at Pearson Airport and spoke with someone there. He stated that I require a Possession and Acquisition Licence (PAL). I believe he said that the items are restricted items, which I find hard to believe as you can buy most if not all these items from places like Huang's store or Jugglez's website. I mainly have a lot of pistol mags, some barrels, grips and slides and some other junk.

What I'd like to know is if this is 100% true, because as far as I know, I've been able to import these same parts via shipping them without any issues in the past. I don't want to have to wait 3 months for them to send me my PAL license (as I've read some of you people had to wait a long time). I would like to be able to use my parts for this season o_0.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Jaaks

No PAL is required. You can appeal the decision. ALthough you'll be waiting months on end to get your stuff back...

hmmm, would you suggest that I go in in-person and try to pick them up? The notice that I got doesn't state that I actually need a PAL or anything, it was the person I spoke to that told me that.

Yeah just go in. You don't need a PAL, and if the notice doesn't state that, when you bring it in, they should just release it to you upon showing them the notice.

I think the new hirees in Mississauga are still a buncha n00bs.

A box of non-restricted goodies I sent out from HK just landed there, I better not have to wait another month or two cause that'd be serious balls.

Why would you need a PAL anyways?

If they really were restricted for import you wouldn't have them seized and destroyed. You need a different license to import restricted items than to possess them. It's essentially the difference between a PAL and BFL, one you can possess firearms by buying in country the other you require to import and sell.

Just walk up and ask to speak to a manager if you have any problems. The manager/supervisor should at least know what they can and cannot release to you.

It's pretty obvious that those pistol mags aren't meant for real bullets and the barrel isn't restricted, it's just a metal tube for all they know. Grips? come on, they could be for your cap gun. Slides aren't restricted either (pistol frame is restricted) but may actually give you some questions and looks just because.

ask to speak with a more senior person, this person does not know what they are talking about, but do it respectfully of course.

WTF does a pal have to do with it? It's not even firearm parts you're getting..

Thanks guys, I was thinking the same thing, as far as I knew none of these items were restricted. Appreciate the help, hopefully everything runs smoothly. Probably go in tomorrow.
