What's a good starting brand?

I have about $300-$400 for a budget.

And I keep finding various reviews on the different brands and it's all confusing me.

I'm looking for a gun that's good to go straight out of the box stock form. I like the MP5, G36K, and HK416.

Out of these 3 brands, G&G, CA, and JG which do you guys think is the best to go with for a newbie?

I know TM is reliable straight out of the box but I hear their external quality doesn't look as realistic as something like say CA. But that's not the most important thing for me being the newbie that I am.

Which brand generally provides the best newb friendly guns (built strong to last long) right from the get go?

CA if you want a great out of the box metal gun (or fibre if its a G36) apperently CA36's are amazing guns

TM if you don't mind plastic, and never want to open your mechbox. TM guns have been known to go for years without any work, although you have to settle for 280ish FPS

and JG if you too cheap for metal, but want to upgrade. (Although, the newest JC HK416s have metal recivers, right?)

for $300-400 bucks though, you probably wont be able to find anything other then a JG

I just want a gun that I won't need the hassle of upgrading or opening up for a while. I'm just too newb to know or do any of the stuff.

Just looking for a brand that's known for having their guns right out of the box good to go for a while and won't worry me about breaking down or anything.

If you really like airsoft, the only option I see is G&G
CA is too expensive for your budget
most JG guns will vary between 260$ - 400$ and their overall quality is average-good
G&G has a very good internal quality and ok plastic externals (better than JG)

If you really want to buy a gun right now, go for G&G
if you can save up a bit more, go for a CA (you won't regret it)

You basically just described one of the more recent generations of CA, but unfortunatly they will be a little out of your price range.

the cansoft G&G M4's are pretty good, a litle over 300 bucks, and if you can deal with the clear lower, they defanitly have betting internals then a JG

CA run for about $700+ I'd say get a G&G. I got a Velocity arms G&G M16 andI must say, best preforming stock gun I've ever seen (I've tried all common brands)

Id say a good one is Echo1, its a rebrand of JG, but they have more quality control and a bit better quality, i have an echo1 G36 and its absolutely amazing, and for clone guns, try to get something with a version 3 mechbox like an AK or G36, because clone mechboxes arent always as strong as say TMs, so the V2 one like the AR series have a tendency to break the front end off if it has a high 380 FPS+ spring

CA guns will run anywhere from $500 to over $700, depending on the model, condition, what comes with it, and what's been done to it. Go into the classifieds and take a look. ICS is another good brand to look for -prices are usually on par with CA.

Recently got a quote on a CA M15A4 and they run between $500 - $700 to get them brand new in a box.

Well if you're not comfortable with opening up your gun then the best thing to do is just take it to a gundoc to do the work for you.

Think of it like taking your car to a mechanic/auto shop. You probably can do things like oil changes, changing the tires, and such yourself but if you're not comfortable under the hood where do you go? To the auto shop and pay them whatever to flush your engine, change oil, etc.

Same goes for airsoft, you can probably change the springs and such yourself but you can just as easily get a gundoc or friend who knows what he's doing to do it. For more in depth work like on the mechbox, gears and such go to the "pros".

PS: I've heard that a guy who goes by the name Samuel (Sam) in Edmonton is a wicked gundoc.

Thanks for the info as well L473ncy. Yeah, I live in Edmonton and my friend is registered on the EAR forums, he also tells me that Samuel is a good gun doc.

I was just browsing the Classifieds and saw an ICS MP5SD5 for $450 and am considering buying it.

I have a JG M4 as my first gun. It was cheap and it is reliable so far. I have taken everything apart to find out the mechanics.. Gearbox is sturdy and fires great after a few hundred rounds.

I dont have alot of experience but I am happy with my JG.. Purchased from Huang at his store.
