Good Gun to Accessorize
I have been looking at getting a new airsoft rifle for a few weeks now. I currently have an Aftermath Kraken, and I like it, but I want something of higher quality that has 4 rail mounts like the M4 CQB. I would buy that, but I play outdoor games, and I really don't see myself using my basement for a game anytime soon.
To get to the point, I want an AEG that can be used for long and close range battles, but is also very customizable (red dot sight, laser sight, grenade launcher, flashlight, etc). Thanks, Connor

You could try the M16?

Sounds like an M4/M16 user to me.. too much stuff on the guns
But yeah, an M4/M16 (if you like the "spec-ops" look of the M4, get a silencer and throw in an M16 length 6.03/4 inner barrel, tac on a silencer to cover it and you're golden for accuracy.. get a rail for your gun and mount all the crap you want!) maybe a G36? Really any gun that has a rail/looks good with a rail on it (so you can mount your stuff) is great.. get some ideas from the showcase.. media (there is threads for most major guns) and then decide what you want. Our preferences are not your preferences. |

Thanks guys. Are you allowed to direct me to a good site to buy a gun from if I am not Age Verified? So far I have looked at buyairsoft.ca and 007 Airsoft.

If your not age verrified, then get age verrified, unless that is your underage, and in that case, dont buy a gun till your 18
But seriously, you will find much better deals in the classifieds

007Airsoft if your best bet if you're not age verified, but if you're under 18, you will not be able to buy a decent airsoft gun in Canada.

if you go the M4/M16 route, you could just swap out the the front end and upper receiver with a shorter CQB option. Just make sure your mechbox is only pulling in the 350fps range and you can then use it indoors and out.

I've bought all my guns but 2 via the classifieds/ASC retailers. I only started a year ago and have 3 AEG's, 3 GBB's, 1 m203 standalone launcher, 1 gas shotty and parts to put together at least one more AEG if not two. Last edited by coach; April 3rd, 2009 at 19:59.. |

I don't want to start any problems, but I am only 15, and I won't be 16 until the end of July. Why shouldn't I buy a gun until I am 18? My parents fully support my hobby, and they have no problem buying the gun for me as long as it is my money being spent on it.
So there are no good retailers in our country? Connor

M16 is no good for close range battles.
Unless you're 7 feet tall, I wish you luck in navigating around corners in close quarters combat with an M16, where you'd typically want to keep your rifle up in high ready. 14.5" length barrel (M4) would be maximum length. Or if you have the funds and the ability, you can build a universal lower, and build one, two or even three uppers for varying lengths. There's tons of good retailers in our country. You just have to be 18 to access them. Your parents know you. We don't. And that's why there's a blanket rule for 18+, because a large majority of minors have screwed it up for others (like you) in the past. Just keep your chin up, do lots of reading and research and save all your pennies for the day you'll hit 18 - then you can build that dream gun you've always wanted. |

Thanks Illusion. I guess I will just start saving up for a good AEG.

BTW, just to get back on the idea of which gun.
If you want something really unique, i suggest a SIG 552. Probalby one of the drop dead sexy guns with silencer, RDS, and surefire attached. Start saving up, its one kickass gun. |

your definatly looking for an m4. if your strictly indoors get the cqb, but if you play out, as well, get the m4. m16 is waaay too big.

Yea, I was not sure how old you were, so the M16 would be quite tough to handle.

To be honest, other than perhaps looking a little out of place, a CQB-R length barrel is perfectly usable outdoors as well as in. The fps that you're running is more of an indicator of suitability for indoors vs outdoors, since the actual accuracy benefit from a longer barrel is questionable science at best.
In airsoft, aesthetics and reliability are top concern. Pretty much all AEGs shoot similarly, and performance can be improved with a little more cash. If you like the look of the CQB-R, I'd recommend that over a longer gun that you're less enthused about any day. Hell, even outdoors, thick brush or occasional cover can make a long rifle like an M16 a pain in the ass to move around.
