"New Gun Smell" Remover??

I recently bought a VSR but the buttpad smells like a cross between a meat smoke house and a cigarette factory. I tried washing the smell out with some simple liquid soap but that seems to have increased its potency to the point where it's transferring to the shirt I rest it up against.

Does anyone have tips on how to take the dirty chinese factory smell out of plastic/rubber?

Thanks in advance.

Put the butt pad in a washing machine.

Buy a box of Arm and hammer baking soda, coat the entire pad in baking soda, let it sit for a week, the smell should be gone by then

The baking soda thing basically takes out the moisture which makes it smell less so that could work.

Febreeze might work too.

Going through the "febreeze" train of thought could Lysol potentially work? Just a bit to maybe kill the bacteria or something? Maybe some bleach too.

I feel that bleach may be too harsh for this application. I like the baking soda idea, does anyone else have experience using this method?

grab some toothpaste and a brush and " clean the buttpad with gentle circular scrubbing motion, i know its sounds funny but give it a try , plus your buttpad is cavity proof too

I'd be

more concerned about the spent transformer oil filled with dioxin that the rubber was made with in China...

All this over a butt pad... I'll just throw it out and make my own from a block of wood.

Your butt pad smells like butt?

Yea I'd agree with the others and say Febreeze. My dog got sprayed by a skunk and febreeze did the trick haha

Febreeze never did the trick for me. I tried it for differents smells, one of wich was a Gallet helmet reeking cigaret smell, and febreese was the less effective stuff I tried.

It's not even working for household stuff, it just smell as bad as the rest.

The baking soda thing sound promising.

Yes Fox, you know the smell I'm talking about. It's like it was made in a meat smoke house, that sits overtop a cigarette factory.
