Cylinder Heads

Which cylinder head should I get for my TM SIG SG 552? Both Systema and Prometheus have 2 types of cylinder heads for the version 3 gearbox, one type is for all other AEG's with version 3 gearboxes and the other type is only for SIG's / AUG's. So which one would be the right one for my TM SIG SG 552?

So not the type that's for a SIG/AUG version 3 gearbox?

for Version 3 Gearbox

for Version 3 Gearbox (SIG/AUG)

There are actually two types of version 3 cylinder heads. One has a longer stem than the other for different v3 guns. It's been a while since I upgraded a G36 cylinder head, so I don't remember which one the G36 requires... but if my memory is serving me correctly, it's the one for SIG/AUG.

Ah, found it:

I'm getting it for my TM SIG SG 552 not a G36. The cylinder head on my TM SIG SG 552 version 3 gearbox looks like the one for all other version 3 gearboxes and not like the one for SIG/AUG version 3 gearboxes. The stem isn't that long on mines. It's just so confusing because it says it's for a SIG/AUG.

Thanks for the link Brian, it was the second post by you that really straightened out my confusion with those version 3 cylinder heads.

Stock TM everything is fine. I added a Modify 100 spring, mtal bushings, bearing spring guide and tightbore to SIG 552, never opened, most accurate and consistant gun I've every upgraded from stock. Literally a bit better than my TM MP5s, two inch groups at 30ft, which is very impressive for an airsoft gun!

So why would the cylinder head for the SIG SG 550/551 have a longer nozzle than the one for the 552?

Because let's say that I'm able to get the entire TM SIG SG 551 front set, will I have to get the cylinder head for the 550/551/AUG instead of the regular version 3 cylinder heads?

They're just a different design... I don't think the 551 front set will even fit a 552. The 550/551 and the 552 were from markedly different generations, where the 550 and 551 were so horribly designed, the 552 had fixed in many ways. There was at least a decade between the two generations.

On that note, I don't know why you'd want the 550 or 551 front set... they were notoriously wobbly.

No, I don't want it at all. I was just wondering if I did do it if I would need the cylinder head for the version 3 SIG/AUG. So I guess even if I get a longer inner barrel it won't matter which cylinder head I get.

The inner barrel length limit on a full cylinder is 455-550mm, right? What if I wanted to get a longer inner barrel like one for a PSG-1. Would the full cylinder and compression stroke of the piston be able to fully propel the BB out of the inner barrel properly or would I then need a completely different gearbox in total?

Correct, it will not matter.

Wrong. 590mm.

Just like all the other threads on this topic indicates, you will require a bore up cylinder set, unported, and have a spring equivalent in strength to a Systema M120 or stronger.
