USMC w/CIRAS

Hi guys,

I've been wondering if anybody has seen CIRAS with temperate MARPAT. MARPAT seems to be effective around here, and I love the feeling & function of CIRAS but I still want to be quite realistic...

With a unit name and approximate date, I'd be able to look for more pics but right now, all I've seen was OTV & IBA or CIRAS with tan or OD flightsuits or PCUs.

So... has anybody seen any RS unit, whatever they are using MARPAT TW+CIRAS? That would be quite nice and effective as a kit to build.

Thanks!

EDIT: I'm talking of a CB CIRAS with a MARPAT TW BDU

USMC uses CB so it won't be acuarte even if a marpat tw ciras was in existence. CB pretty much goes with everything thats why it is used. Khaki and OD work pretty well with most camo patterns as well, but aren't current USMC. And an OTV or MTV instead of a ciras would be more accurate as well.

Guess I can't read this morning. Yes the Marines use the ciras in CB, I believe it is there Force Recon units. Arnies Airsoft has a thread dedicated to the FR units in there gear discussion.

Thanks for your answer. I guess I'll have to (re)register on Arnies (my old account doesn't work !?).

Yes, I had seen a bunch of FR loadouts, but those in MARPAT TW are worn with RRVs and PACAs while those with CIRAS are worn with Tan or Sage flightsuits.

The only FR loadout I've seen with CIRAS & MARPAT TW is this one: http://www.actionfiguren-shop.com/mo...on.html?lang=1
There's a kitlist, which is nice, but, well, it isn't even airsoft/reenactement or RS...

I've seen photos of FR guys and MEU SOC guys using CIRAS doing VBSS work with flight suits (so I'd assume it's the Maritime version). Obviously they're not going to chuck a perfectly good vest because they aren't using with a flight suit. Throw that CIRAS on your back, rock your MARPATs and call it a day.

Haha, makes some sense^^

What I've also found is that (with their flightsuits^^) they wear mostly the Land version, but they are allowed to choose between both.

I've found those pictures of Marines with CIRAS and MARPAT (some in TW, some in arid). But I have no idea of their units... See attached.

Well, according to the filename the first should be MEU.

Any better idea?

EDIT: The third picture is on Wikipedia, and identified as such:

Well then, problem solved! Nice find with those pics. US Forces are given so much freedom to use privately purchased kit, that as long as they're using the provided armor (and lots of units are issued the RBAV) , uniform and firearms, they're pretty wide open in what they can use. Makes it pretty easy to justify what you're using for a gear impression.

Marines (MFR) use the LAND version of the CIRAS, not the MAR version.

The choice of flightsuits over MarPat/MCCUUs stems from the mission; flightsuits (Nomex) are typically used for CQC and other missions were flash protection is mandated. And as with other SF, depending on their objectives sometimes they'll want to blend in with the rest of the troops, sometimes they won't.

The CIRAS is used for maritime operations as well as blackside operations (blackside = expected direct contact with enemy). The PACA + MBSS or RRV configuration is also used (I've used it, it's very comfortable). MFR get issued the whole array.

As for the pics, most of the Marines you'll see not wearing the usual issued vests (IBA, MTV etc) are MEU, MFR, FAST (I've seen pics of FAST using black vests, as well as CB FSBE AAVs). Marines have a much looser structure than other military branches, and as such can be difficult to identify. You'll notice they don't wear patches, unit identification and on the field usually not even rank.

For MFR, IIRC they get issued seven mags. They use Wilson, Kimber or Chip McCormick 8 round mags, not the usual 7. Some also use their own McCormick 10 round Power Mags.

I've rarely seen MFR without a pistol. Just about always in a Safariland dropleg and dummy corded.
