Star Mk46 Project

Cheeseman and I are yet at another project, this will be LONG so stay tuned.

This is a project to resurrect an MK46 from alright to Amazing.

So bought this gun at good price of $600 of which $100 were given back for fixing the issues this gun had:
- no mag
- terrible wiring
- terribe shimming
- cracked stock link
- broken feed tray tab

Bought replacments parts:
- metal BNIB (A&K) feed tray (shipping)
- new wiring (done)
- new gears (shipping)
- sorbo pad (done)
-Madbull m120 (done)
- tamiya small connectors (shipping)

FIRST: Replacing the Wiring

Before:

After:

SECOND:
Motor connection

Motor connection

NEW STEP Recieved the A&K feedtray, and as DarkAngel suggested it would fit it DIDNT., so pissed off, Cheese and I decided wtf we already have a project underway, might as well mill the thing to fit, so we did, and came out amazingly solid. here are the pics.

internal feed tray comparison

external comparison

Back slip in tab comparison reveals the problem of not fitting into the STAR body.

side comparison, STAR is thin, A&K is thick

Milling so it maches the STAR feed tray slip in tabs.

Filing the buttons since they were too long and wouldnt fir into the body

putting the feedtray together

Fits perfect

view of gun body with new feedtray

NEW

THIRD: Modify new Torque up gears swapped in, oiled up, hard hop up rubber and m120, bb modify piston head, and shimmed.

gear box put in the main body, all thats left is to assemble it and put in a large connector on it.

MK46 COMPLETE!!!!!!!!!! works like a charm....
- ordering mag from UN company.

Pictures came out better than I expected. It took a while to get things done so far, but we're at it one step at a time and we'll keep you folks updated as we go further on this project.

Very nice, but i'm very worried about the metal work on the feed tray. Won't it break?

Interesting...What kind of wire did you use? Might just be the pics but is that "speaker wire"?

about the metal, it wont break it is extremly strong and if handled properly shouldnt have any problems at all.

the wire is from TheSource its 16awg, I use it in every gun I own and works miracles.

stay tuned, for the most interesting parts:
- Custom highcap box mag with possible electric feeding mechanism or dual finger wheel attachement, well see how it goes
- new hopup rubber instalment, shimming, new gearset and mechbox assembly and installment into the gun.

Keep tracking this!

MK46 STAR mag ordered from UN Company 4 days ago, but they are not answering anything and no emails other than a 4 day old confirmation has been sent...were kinda worried since we though UNCompany is punctual...guess not..no word from them yet no item but they did take the money....

Nice, you put the pictures up.
