Need help with Dboys AKS 74

Im having a problem with my gun. When I shoot it the bbs fly down as soon as they come out of the barrel like the opposite of hop up, and I mean at close range like 1 meter away from a target they spiral down right out of the barrel.

This is caused by me taking the gun apart completly but not the mechbox, and I think I put the hop up together wrong, Or could it possibly be a bent barrel. The hopup looks exactly the same way when I took it apart too the best of my memory, Please help I dont know what the problem could be.

Did you make sure to push the hopup all the way back against the mechbox and putting in that plastic L shaped piece above it to hold it tight?

Sounds like you got an air leak somewhere, or you're missing your hopup nub.

Whats a hop up nub do you mean the soft rubber bucking, do you have a picture or a link to a site with a picture of a hop up nub. Thx Ancorp but I found the problem, the bbs were bouncing off the flashhider and going right down out of the barrel, and It turned out that if the flashhider is loosely screwed on then that will happen. PROBLEM SOLVED.

Hah, well glad you got it sorted out then.

The hopup nub is a little piece (like 3 by 2 mm) of rubber tubing or sometimes even plastic. It sits in the hopup arm, and presses onto the bucking to create that bump that the BBs pass through. When I bought a TM AK-47 shell a long time ago, it came with a hopup that was missing it, and the hopup barely did anything even when maxed out. Make sure you don't lose that nub when you take apart the hopup.

You can see the hopup bucking, and the little hopup nub here:

Cheers,
Alex

I think I did lose my nub because my hop up is no existent, I thought this was normal after oiling but after a highcap its the same way down so I need a new rubber and nub right? however I still dont know wher that little nub goes, in fact what I took it apart I didnt even see any nub or anything fall out, I need too know wher that nub goes.

Ok I found the little nub your talking about Ancorp, How is this nub attached too that half circle groove, seems thats its not attached with anything except just silicon oil, its so flimsy, this part is that important yet so flimsy, wow such crap.

the nub does not go there. it goes inside the hop up unit. if you take the hop up rubber sleeve out, and look inside, you should be able to just barely see a little slot on the top of the cylindrical part of the hopup that the sleeve and barrel slides into. the hop up nub goes into that little recess.

Thats what I was saying, but just too be sure you mean that little letter c shaped thing that is on that piece that goes up and down when you slide the hopup adjustment left or right and there for it presses down making the little nub touch the rubber sleeve. Is that right.

Yeah. it isn't kept in there by.. anything really. which is why you gotta be careful not to lose it when you take the barrel and hopup sleeve out of the hopup unit.

Well Mine is useless which is why I started taking the gun apart, because I lost 100fps since buying this gun, I bought it shooting 400fps and this past weekend I chronoed it shooting 305fps Im 90% sure it is the hopup. Before I bought this gun I read alot of reviews on it and they all said that the hop up rubber needs to be changed to get good performance, mine was shooting great for about a month.

So that being said when Im looking for a new rubber(sleeve) is their anything I should know, like compatibility, I assume that the sleeve and nub(bucking) are universal for all AEG guns right? theres no difference which one too buy?. Also I read somewhere that a hard rubber is needed when shooting a 400fps spring like I am. Can someone explain whats the difference between the hard and soft rubber and which one I would need.

Just buy a Guarder black set and you'll be good to go.

Don't have experience with that, but the one I linked is a good general purpose rubber. People use it in 350 fps or even 400 fps guns.
