SMG as primary?

(airsoft of course) Is it not a good idea of using an SMG for a primary gun? i tend to like having one gun, so more care and upgrades go into it. I have a upgraded kraken, but i just ordered a AKs74u and thinking of moving all the internal upgrades into the AKs74u... therefore making the AKs74u my primary.

i asked my local airsoft friends and they said that barrel length does matter in airsoft.. i am not trying to be a sniper, i like to get mid range but not too close.

SMG as primary: why not.

If you keep it unde the CQB fps limit, it will be fine for both field and indoor.

I sometime use my 350fps P90tr outside. It got almost as much range as any 400fps rifle.

In airsoft, an SMG is just as good a primary as a carbine or rifle. In many cases, you'll lose a bit of accuracy and range with a stock SMG because of the short barrel length, but it's not as significant as in real life. Seriously, a lot of people use ugpraded MP5s are primaries for outdoor games. Some will have a longer inner barrel hidden by a silencer. In that case, there's really no difference with an SMG and a carbine / rifle with the same barrel length.

IMO, throwing a tightbore barrel in the AKs74u would probably make it as accurate and give it a similar effective range as the Kraken's standard bore barrel.

You probably mean hidden by a silencer.

I game outdoors with my MP5, I've gamed outdoors with a P90 as well. I kindof like the mobility SMGs grant over larger, heavier rifles.

A friend of mine is playing almost exclusively with his MP7. It shoots 350 and the barrel is the stock lenght (6.01 tightbore though). He gets as much kills as any other, mostly because he can maneuver in places where a SR-16 can't.

I usually carry my MP5 A4 with longer barrel hiding into silencer as backup gun to the game, just in case my first gun screw up somehow then I have another gun as back up but sometime I game with it too. It performance as well as my SAM-R. By the way, It doesn't matter whatever the gun you carry but whatever you do on the field will express how hardcore you are. I mean, I saw some guy carry only stock TM MP5 but he got more kill than me who carry upgrade G&P SAM-R. That's mean, he is better than me so I have to admit it and go shake hand with him.

Been using the same sort of AKS74U as a primary for a long time now. No problems yet, and it's got some decent range to it, too.

It's really kool somehow but some game host doesn't allow you carry AEG as backup gun, only GBB. Correct if I'm wrong.

I've heard of them having ammo restrictions so that you can only carry enough ammo for one gun, basically they don't want you carrying twice the amount of ammo as the other players, but having 2 guns that use the same mags would be a bonus.
