226 - accuracy

My experience with the 226's is limited to only 2 pistols so far. On the latest one...accuracy seems "meh, so-so" to "poor". The other one was a long time ago and I didn't really give it a workout.

It has an unknown tightbore, gas usage is pretty consistent, piston seal is Ok but probably a bit loose, stock hopup rubber/assembly so far as I can tell.

Hopup is probably just shy of half way on.

Based on TM parts, it was dropped into a Guarder frame/slide. Frame to slide fit seems good. Outer barrel to slide seems good. Inner barrel to outer seems ok. Accuracy is consistent with 4 different mags (one brand new)...so the mag to blow back unit seem consistent at least.

All things such as grip and DA/SA trigger pulls taken into account, it's shooting "minute of chest" which isn't really confidence inspiring...at best it's minute hand (fingers extended). My stock TM 5.1 shot at worse palm sized groups and my tuned one shoots thumbnail sized groups. (basement range)

For those of you out there with 226's...what's the accuracy of your pistol? Is it stock, upgraded, etc...?

Is there accuracy potential in its design?

It's pretty as all get out...but it's being left behind when it's time to shoot.

Any thoughts on where to focus efforts to improve its accuracy?

Thanks,

Tys
