600fps, Aeg Project.
Hey all,
I just bought an MTHaynes gearbox straight from MTHaynes, because he only had two left, so I jumped on the chance. I want to bring my gun up from 500fps in my previous setup to about 600fps, which shouldn't be too much of an issue given the strength of both the box and the parts that I think should work out. Thats why I'm here actually. I want to list off my parts and get your opinions. However I don't know what to get when it comes to bushings, piston, and spring and somewhat as to my cylinder setup. Here it is: -Mthaynes 6milspec gearbox. Made of aluminum alloy. -Magnum motor with reinforced guarder thermal treated pinion gear. -Prometheus Max torque gears -I think I should get Kanzen ceramic bushings, but im sort of lost. -Stage 6 airsoft surgeon spring (roughly 630fps) or m185 systema (600fps roughly) -hurricane metal ball bearing spring guide -I think a supercore piston would work the best but the max torque gears are meant for half tooth pistons. So I figure that I could just use a dremmel and take of the right side of the teeth when looking at the front of the piston. Unless there is a half tooth piston out there that can handle this fps. -Systema bore-up kit which includes: Silent piston head, bore up cylinder, bore up cylinder head. Can the silent piston head handle this fps? It has worked great in my 500fps setup but 600fps is a whole differnet league. -Tappet plate? I haven't the slightest idea. Maybe area 1000? -systema bore up nozzle. I wanted the compression parts to be all the same company. -I have a mosfet from extreme fire along with a systema switch assembly and upgraded wiring. Hopup: -Neo full metal hopup chamber. I personally think this is the best hopup system on the market. I have tried an ICS, Systema, TM, KWA, and echo 1 hopups and this is by far the best. -Laylax strike chamber -Firefly hard bucking -big out h-nub -650mm 6.03m tightbore prometheus I will be getting a 11.1v li-poly and deans connectors. Please add anything to my list and add any critique you have. I know a good amount about airsoft and I'm no noob. Don't let my number of posts fool you. I have a 350fps 30rps setup and a 500fps DMR that I built. I know the level of danger and all, but I need your advice when it comes to parts at this level of power. Thanks in advance. |

firefly hard bucking is softer than prometheus soft bucking. it wont last very long, if it can even put enough hop on the BB at all.
the hardest AEG bucking I've ever used was Prometheus Hard or KM RH75 |

I haven't had the greatest experiences with prommy buckings. When i used it on my 500fps DMR, I couldnt get it to chrono past 400fps. Most of the time it shot below 300fps even with a m150. Maybe the fps wasn't high enough for it. and yes it was a hard bucking.
Also what do you think about my list? Also what parts should get for the piston, bushing, and spring? |

I know you're a pro but....
Is this even safe? What field will ever allow this? I'm sure this is way more than a hot gun, if anything it's as hot as the sun.

Why dont you just buy a prometheus MS190SP tune up kit? lol.
Prometheus hard bucking, prometheus barrel... , teflon tape everything you can... would be a hell of alot easier/cheaper then what your talking about here lol... I'de get a mosfet with active breaking and soft on from extreme-fire.com back up your lipo 11.1v with a capacitor for unlimited amperage... Only flaw I see is wanting to use a Ver2 gear box ( assumption ) Ver3 would prolly result in better consistancy/accuracy/reliability... but hey, its your kit. |

I play with eagle force in California. Most of the people here are former army and former marines. However if my gun is on semi then it's fine. There isn't much difference between a 600fps tanaka and a 600fps DMR, besides the amount of money you use to make it, and the amount of moving parts.
They trust me when it comes to engagement rules. By the way I didn't want to come across as asmart ass or a know it all. I just didn't want to come across as a guy who has been airsofting for two weeks before deciding to do this. |

...an area 1000 tappet plate?
I don't think so. I'm not that well versed in high FPS set-ups... but I'd advise against any cheaply produced parts. If you're going with a 650mm barrel I'd suggest a bore-up kit. |

I see you have quite a few different manufacturer's goods in your list. One suggestion I can make is to try and source as many parts as you can from one manufacturer. This may save you some big headaches down the road tolerance wise, as well as helping to prevent those "mystery" problems that plague frankenbuild aeg's.

hmm..... i wonder if 600 fps would penetrate skin. 390 and 400 alone is enough to break it a little and leave awful red dots

I'd just go w/ a systema FTK or prommy parts + stock tm piston. Keep you airsoft surgeon spring, and the stock piston is just fine. When it does eventually wear out, it's a cheap part.
I've used aluminum/titanium pistons, guarder pistons, CA pistons, systema, guarder etc... and none compare to the durability of a stock tm piston. Can't offer any advice on hop rubbers as the highest I've ever had an AEG shooting was 480ish. Last edited by Kokanee; September 13th, 2008 at 23:50.. |
