M16 firing problem

Hello, Scharfs got more m16 woes to cry over :\.

Alright, It sounds like there is something wrong with my gearbox or something, Whenever I fire in:

Semi : Sounds like its going "pa-pop', or firing twice. making two solid snaps with one triggerpull. sometimes it fires without the inconsistant noise.

Full auto : Sounds like the piston is just 'bouncing around' with each shot. Again with the two noises per shot. I'm starting to think a tooth is broken.

Though, i'm just curious if this is a motor alignment problem, I'm just ruling out a few things before i delve into the depths of my v2 gearbox.

I think a gear did break. I doubt it's a motor alignment issue and even if it was it's progressed far beyond that. Open the bugger up and you'll see what's wrong right away I'm sure.

I'll guess that the anti reversal latch isn't catching...and the 2nd sound you're hearing are the gears unwinding.

I'd be sure to check that the antireversal latch spring is ok and that it's not jammed up in a gear or wedged in the corner of the mechbox.

Well, if buying a new spur gear and piston doesnt do the job, I will prolly get rid of it. We'll see.

Any tips/oppinions on what piston/gear brand I should look into? I'm thinking of just getting a replacement gear from TM.

Its been noted that to many mish mash parts from other companies can lead to issues.

Well I wish you best of luck on getting it up and running. I say go with original TM gears.
But well thats just a suggestion based on not knowing what is all in your mechbox, spring, piston and such.

Thats what I plan on doing. Airsoftparts.ca have a bunch of replacement parts for the TM v2 gearbox. Just unsure what piston i should use.

Personally I find that theres nothing wrong with stock, as long as the spring your running isnt to strong. As just a suggestion, a prometheus piston is a great quality piston, however it can run you a small chunk more than other companies. Other options are systema and modify to name a few, some people have stated that the systema polycarb red is a terrible piston. There is a thread about it somewhere on here, however I have never had any issues with the systema red and have run set ups ranging between 280FPS all the way up to 480FPS without issue.

The Modify polycarbonate piston is the best one I've used. I've broken a stock TM, stock ICS and Deepfire pistons before. The Modify one was still going strong on an upgraded spring (Modify S110+) for over 2000 rounds before I sold my ICS M4. The JG HK416 I have now also came with a Modify polycarbonate piston and it's holding up strong at 380 FPS although I can't say how many rounds have been put through it since I'm the third owner.

+1, I use Stock TM gears in all my guns, heaviest spring is a Prom MS120 and no issues pulling the spring or wearing thus far. Run smoother too, had some gay helicals in there and took em out, stuffed them in the furthest corner of my drawer and thats where they stay, couldnt stand the whiney, hard to adjust sound of them.

Just stick to simple or go all out and put Systema and Prometheus in ur mech like I did, otherwise ur gonna run into a mesh of problems as said.
