Looking for options that are under 24 inches

Because of transportation issues, (And that I already have a case that will work great for gear once I gut it and built a new liner) I am looking for a decent airsoft gun that will be no longer than 24 inches. (Maybe up to 27 if I angle it)

I started with paintball, but have developed an interest in Airsoft as well. (Talked to a guy about age verification this afternoon, so he should get his thing done in a few days hopefully)

Using a borrowed TM M4 at the field today, I was left with the impression of a rather bulky, and unwieldy weapon (In part from wearing a paintball mask which put the sights far too low for my use) I had been thinking of something like a P90, which fits my personality well. Small, compact, light weight, and a very odd ball way of loading it. I am the kind of person that is very willing to crawl through the dirt to gain extra cover and move up for a surprise attack on someone, so long barreled M16s really don't work for me.

I won't be buying till end of summer/late fall, and I'm not going to have the biggest budget for the equipment, but I would rather wait and put a little extra money in than go with cheap junk that is likely to break on me in the first month or two.

The group I would be playing with does both woods/field and indoors play, and coming from playing woods ball, I tend to be light on the trigger and conserve ammo, and either use fast, short bursts, or slow, careful semi auto fire.

People's thoughts for a new player? How much would you suggest I save before buying? (I am already covered on camo and tac vest and that, I only need to invest in the gun and the other optional gear like red dot sight, etc.)

Thank you.

Hey luckless,

My m4 cqb rifle, has a collapsible stock on it and a very short jp rifle front end. With the stock on the shortest setting, the rifle is about 25.5'' long. I have a G&p M120 gearbox in it with a 9.6v 1600mah battery and this configuration shoots about 375-380fps on average, and allows me to still shoot far if i need to.

I game the same way as you....move through cover to gain a better position on the enemy. I like the look of the AR-15 family and getting parts for these guns are the easiest i beleive.

You could always sling the p90 on your back.....as a secondary gun, cuz if your primary gun gets hit then you could draw your seconday weapon.

Best of luck

steyr AUG cqb:

you can remove the barrel for transportation, fits in a backpack.
the mags are light, useful when you carry your kit in the same backpack.
you can change the barrel for a long one in 2 s
its bullpup so the barrel is long, even when short

-
it hates being dropped.
medium sized batteries only unless you go li-po.

that's the aeg in my sig btw

you could go with something like a G36c, The side folding stock makes it pretty small, not sure of the measurements though, or a Aks-74u...

could also go with a sig552. Its a decent all purpose weapon. Small enough for cqb but big enough for milsim. Thats the gun I plan on getting once i'm verified, although money will be an issue so i may get something else used. Not quite sure if its under 24 inches however...

I'm feeling a lean toward a Steyr AUG, or the FN P90. Reaing reviews of Tokyo Marui builds of both sound promising.

Any comments on brands that make a good AUG or P90, and how much they will set me back?

There are a few P90 packages around in the classifieds for 400-1000 right now.

P90s and MP5 (folding & sliding stock models) would fit the bill quite well. However, take into account that the shorter barrel lengths on these guns limit accuracy at longer ranges.

Other options would be short versions of M4s and AKs. You can get some pretty compact guns from both those lines.

My P90 can fit into most small backpacks, so I imagine it would fit any case that you would have. If you take it apart, it's really small. Easily snaps back into two pieces.

If you are playing outdoors you could also go with something like a Scar because I'm pretty sure that they have folding stocks that could cut down on the length but give you good range and accuracy.

Go for an AUG! Disassembles into 2 parts in 2 seconds for shorter storage, but has one of the longest barrels of any AEG.

An AUG is also a good choice like Styrak mentioned. It should easily fit your case when disassembled. And its bullpup design gives it a long barrel rifle in a compact package that's easy to manoeuvre in the field.
