Echo 1 internal comparison

Hey guys!
I was looking at some echo 1 aegs (ok, yes, go ahead and say it, i'm cheap :P), and I was wondering if the echo 1 m4 collapsible stock version 3 has the same internals (and is just as good ) as the m4 tsd (with skeleton stock). Also, if I want to upgrade, can I put a metal reciever on it? Thanks.

Sure why not, Im sure the internals are fine in both. Just double check for metal bushings and shimming with either.
If you want to put a metal reciever on it, I dont see what would stop you unless its not mean to be then a an act of god will smite thee.

Thanks for the help!

Also, since I will mostly be in semi-auto mode, could I hit a can from 25 yards almost every time (assuming I had perfect aim)? 35?

If I wanted to up the accuracy, what would be the first thing to do? A tightbore?

Tightbore and new hopup are the simplest upgrades.

Thanks for the quick responses!

Ok, so I talked to my dad about it, and he and I both agreed that it would be wise to buy something that will last a long time (and probably be expensive). I get a $130 credit to what I want for my b-day, and the rest I have to pay for. So I have 2 options:

(A) Get a echo 1 and pay $40.

(B) Get a Classic army m15a4 Armalite, battery and charger and pay about $150.

Advice?

Go for the Classic Army. You'll save money in the long run, though you might need to replace the piston. Some CA guns have issues with them. I've probably put 20,000 rounds through mine though and it's still holding up fine. Classic Army guns are also full metal, so it will feel a lot better and hold up much better than an Echo 1/JG gun.

If you really want a gun who's internals will last a very long time, go Tokyo Marui.

My dad doesn't like automatics, so when I get it I can only shoot it semi-auto mode. Better or worse for the gun?

Go with CA if you have the cash, spend a little bit extra on preventative maintenance if you feel inclined to or use it until an issue arises. Like Kalnaren stated pistons can sometimes be an issue in CA guns, however its not always the case there are lotsa folks who have run CA guns out of the box without problems.

Personally I would say there shouldnt be an issue with using it in semi only. As long as you dont accidentally half pull the trigger and sieze it you should never have a problem, and in most cases a half pull can be fixed by switching to full auto and giving it a quick burst. If your going to be semi auto only why not get something like along the lines like an M14.

Define "preventative maintenance". Are saying that I should get a upgraded piston unit before I shoot it?

I like the looks of an m4, and the m14s seemed too uncommon and not as well known (for replacement/upgrade parts).

There are plenty of upgrade and replacement parts for M14s, it is indeed quite a popular rifle.

"preventative maintenance" means replacing parts that are prone to failure before they actually fail, thus preventing the failure. In CA guns, the piston sometimes fails, sometimes it doesn't. As TokyoSeven said, some people (like myself) have run CA guns out of the box without issue, while others have had the piston fail within the first 1,000 rounds.

I still think i'd kinda like the m4 more but thanks for the info. So the classic army will be a more accurate, right? (and just out of curiousity, does the "slide lock" function on this gun?)

Accuracy will probably be about the same. Most stock airsoft guns have near identical performance. Overall though when compared to JG/Echo1 the Classic Army one is a better quality gun. You get what you pay for in airsoft.

And what do you mean by "slide lock"... only pistols have slide locks...
