What battery will fit

i just got a Classic Army CA8-2, its the equalivient of a SL8, any how, a basic 8.4 mini wont fit in the forgrip, its too long, so anyhow, i have to put a custom in there, being that i want to put more voltage in there, does putting a custom 12 volt in there would work, there is room on top and bottom to put the battery in, so put a 6 cells on top (formed in a 2x3 normal mini battery would, gives 7.2v) and put 4 cells on under the barrel (2x2 4.8v) giving a total of 12volts,
has anyone tried this, or has the gun and knows that this will work??

If I were you I'd put one of those 8 cell nun chucks(4 on bottom, 4 on top) less likely to cause any damage.
