Anything I should do yet?
So folks Ive had my JG M4 S-SYSTEM (Internally stock) for about a month now and have put about 2500-3000(max) rounds through it , Is there any maintenence I should do, any lubing or cleaning? If not yet when should do its first "checkup".
Thanks in advance ![]()

Start saving up for the inevitable repairs
![]() I'd say start looking for upgrades, as it might be a good idea to boost the internals up a bit ![]()

Steel bushings probably, maybe a steel spring guide.

Ask your local gun doctor for possible instalation of upgrades?

metal bushings, new spring (unless you like your velocity), ported piston (you can mod the original, if needed), re-grease, re-shim, and inspect gears, piston and hopup bucking for replacement. A bearing spring guide would be a good upgrade if you are using a 400FPS spring. If you replace the piston head you won't need a bearing on if you have one on your spring guide and it would be better to less weight on your piston.

Out of the box, the better quality clones like JG are pretty decent. I've put almost 2500 rounds through my stock JG MP5 without any issues to date. I've got about 500 through my JG HK416 also without issue either. I don't plan on opening up either mechbox until something fails. Then I'll replace the broken parts and any other worn parts at the same time.
At a very minimum though, on any clone, you should consider replacing the bushings with metal ones, and if the mechbox is overly greased (common with clone guns), clean the mechbox, reshim it, and regrease it. That in itself should increase the gun's reliability pretty significantly. If you really want to upgrade the internals, then replacing the whole compression system short of the cylinder is a good idea. If you're happy with your velocity, then you can keep the stock spring, as there's nothing wrong with those. A new spring guide, piston, piston head, and cylinder head would be good choices. A new nozzle and hopup rubber would also be recommended upgrades.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Everyone now a days wants a 400 fps gun. Remember, it's the max limit, not the goal to reach for. As Greylocks always said, (I can't believe I'm quoting him ![]()

Unloaded and cleared, hold it upside down and put a couple drops of silicon oil down the loading tube (where the BBs enter the gun), then dry fire it a few times. Helps keep BBs from plugging up in the hop up rubber.

Just make sure you don't look into the loading tube when your firing it. I've heard you could shoot out your eye this way.

play till it breaks. in the meantime, throw in a TB inner barrel for improved accuracy/FPS. with time, change the bushings and spring guide. other than that. you should be pretty much good.

Im assuming your a gun doctor in edmonton?
If so that would be great. I dont think it needs its tune up now but when the time comes im not really comfortable to open up my gun and do all the upgrades myself ,I would probably mess something up since Ive never done it before. What kind of upgrades would you do to it? Stock it shoots about 400 fps and I would like to keep it that way.
