Which gun
Hey, I am new to the forums and I was wondering if anyone had any advise regarding a new gun. I have been in airsoft for about a year now and have been wanting to start into a sniper role, I had a few guns in mind here are the names with urls.
first off the Well l96 http://www.airsplat.com/Items/AR-WELL-MB01BSB.htm I was also looking at a newer version of the l96 called the mb05 http://www.airsplat.com/Items/AR-WELL-MB05-C2.htm I was also looking at a glock 18c aep airsoft pistol http://www.floridaairsoft.com/reviews/tmg18c/ I am looking for a gun that I don't have to upgrade or mess with, ready to battle out of the box. Where me and my friends play it is all woods, with an open field. I was second guessing myself on the glock because I heard that the effective range was only 50 feet. Please help me out with this decision. |

NEITHER! Check out UTG L96 Warriors or a JG BAR-10.

Theres nothing wrong with only having a 50 foot engagement range for the glock, its a side arm. You could use it as a primary I guess. Personally for me, handguns are back ups for when its quicker to grab a fresh loaded gun then reload or when the area is to tight to swing a long arm properly.
As for those sniper rifles, I know nothing about them at all, never handled one never bothered to read a review. I do know the mbo5 was recently released and there was a thread about it the other night. http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthread.php?t=54039 Nothing to useful was said in the thread. I think there is a review of the well l96 in the review section, you may wish to look into it.

look here first. Also, all the websites are are looking at are in the states. there is no way the rifles will get into Canada. Get yourself age verified and look in the classifieds.

If you are in Canada you have things all wrong, we can't import guns from anywhere, it's all through 007airsoft.com and shootsoft.ca . Playing in the woods is a horrible idea aswell.
But, if you are in the states / other location then the snow-tax land of Canada... I agree with Tokyoseven, reloading a mag takes a bit of time, in a hot spot it's best to grab your sidearm, especially being a sniper a sidearm is handy.

Ok sorry i didn't clear this up earlier, I do live in the U.S. this was just the best airsoft forum i could find. I'm on a tight budget of about 150$ to 200 so im just looking for one gun, and my friends field is 14 acres of woods, with one clover field. I have played with aeg's before and they were ok, but none of my friends are going to be playing with them because they are too tight with their money. I am also a long time hunter so i know how to stalk/wait.

I didnt bother telling you about our set up here in Canada because I assumed that you were from the USA. Airsoft is alot more expensive here for us than it is for you.
With 150-200 you can aquire something fair. Just keep in mind you dont have to aquire everything all at once, most people always think they have to have it all to start. Theres nothing wrong with starting off with just one gun, some simple camo and a few mags. For your case, I would start off with the glock and then get the sniper rifle, simply because working with a glock with limited range your gona have to learn some stealth and fire discipline which is something you will need if you ever intend to snipe. Next month or next paycheque/whenever you have the money then you can consider expanding to the sniper rifle. In the mean time you can do research. With your 150-200 budget your going to need: Eye protection, because eyes dont grow back Some camo, you dont have to but camo will help break up your outline better then blue jeans Airsoft weapon + magazines Maybe something to carry those mags in. Even though airsoft maybe cheaper in the USA, you may wish to save up a little more before taking the leap.

Hey Kalousie, i'm the guy who wrote the nothing useful thread as said by Tokyo7. I, personally own WELL L96 version 2 before the G22 came out but, if you plan on running in that field; you'll be carrying 7-8lbs worth of rifle with you.
Here is a review of WELL G22 gas version (http://www.airsoftretreat.com/forums...3784.msg571796) at the end of the review, the reviewer was tick-off that WELL made a spring version with adjustable stock as-well. Essentially it is just a WELL L96(version 2) with a different stock but, I agree with mateba about the JG BAR-10 (400fps) (review http://www.airsoftretreat.com/review...uct=220&cat=62)and with $5 mods your getting just under 500fps rifle. Decent quality and accuracy to boot with a stock rifle and with TM VSR-10 compatibilty for the future upgrades. Last edited by SilentBullet; March 4th, 2008 at 21:49.. |

Unfortunetly I have no recommendations for an AEP glock except to buy an extra battery or two and a few magazines.

And Sorry I didn't take your advise on the bar I don't trust myself enough with plastic parts to mod anything yet. Again thanks for the input everybody. O and silient thanks for the review but im looking at a springer version.

if you dont know already, the more expensive gun usually works and lasts better but if you want looks then i'd go for the 1st generation sniper of the two. also, a bolt action airsoft is a more reliable but obviously slower rate of fire weapon... just keep that in mind
