TM G36C to G36

SO, I have the TM G36C. I've had thoughts about swapping the various parts and turning it into a full-length G36. However, since I have an incredible attention to detail, I'd never go ahead with replacing the foregrip and barrels but leaving the short gas tube/block as it is; I'd also want to lengthen that as well.

Now, I've found some one-piece barrels at WGC, but they're around the $220 mark without shipping and that crap, so I'd rather not go down that road just yet.

So basically, what I want to know is if anyone knows of a cheaper solution to my problem? What I was thinking of was maybe a STAR or CA G36 gas tube/block could be swapped with the one on TM's G36C, but I don't know. Perhaps G36 gas blocks of different lengths can actually be bought from certain stores/sites? I don't know, so if anyone's done this before, or has anything useful to contribute, please do!

Thanks all!

Not sure on your original question but just an FYI (in case you already didn't know), you'll have to replace the ported cylinder in your mechbox with a full length one to get proper performance out of the full size G36.

Good luck on finding a good source on your parts,

Continuing my G36C to G36 project (that was originally put on hold to totally bitchify the G36C), I need to swap out the inner barrel, obviously. But of what I can find, the closest length to 495mm is 509mm, and the next closest is 455mm. Does anyone know if a 495mm barrel will fit nicely with the G36 full-length barrel...say, the one Huang is selling, without having it be visible through the flash hider? Or should I go with a 455mm instead?

I can't comment on the G36 barrel set that Huang is selling however the flash hider on the CA G36 has a lip which does not allow longer inner barrels to pass through. If the G36 barrel assembly you're looking at copied teh CA design, you'll run into the same problem. I guess it's possible for you to sand down that section but it's very difficult to reach. If you can't find a 495mm inner barrel, I think the next closest is a G3-SG1 barrel at 469mm.

Also if you really do plan on getting a longer barrel for your G36C, you'll have to swap out the cylinder for one without a hole. The stock G36C cylinder does not have a great enough volume of air to propel the BB down a long barrel like the one with a G36.

I've looked around and found pretty much everything I know I'll need to make this conversion accurate, but performance-wise, there are a few things I'm still unsure of.

To recap, I'll be swapping out a 247mm barrel with one that's around 495mm, maybe a little longer. I know I'll need a new cylinder, but will those two items be sufficient? I won't need more power to push the BBs will I? If so, I know about the necessary items required for that.

And will moving up to such a long barrel negatively affect my ROF? If so, would a 9.6V battery (with reinforced gears) be able to combat that?

The G36 inner barrel is 494mm. You will not be able to use a longer inner barrel without modifying the flashhider, since it sits tight against the end of barrel.

It's barely even a lip, its more like a casting seam lol
I just drilled it out on my friend's gun, just hold it by hand and use an electric drill

Would it be possible to just cut the inner barrel with a mitre saw? Would that affect performance if the cut is clean/sanded?

I'll figure out those issues when they come up.

I don't know anything about your internals and posible prob's but As a Machenist I know it's posible to cut your inner barrel with no I'll affect. Because it's brass or other soft metal I would sugest you use a hack saw instead of a miter saw. 24 teeth per inch would be best. You need to be vary carefull when you cut that you don't squash the barrel, this is a lot easier then most realize. Once you've cut it take some emry cloth (metal version of sand paper available at any hardware store) and sand the inside cut edge till you have removed all burrs. you probably want to put a bit of a chamfer on it instead of just deburing it.

I'd like to see someone try that lol
I used a hacksaw for mine, 24TPI, then hit the end with a deburring tool, worked great!
