A problem with the law.
No, i didn't brandish a gun in public.
No, i didn't shoot my friend in the eye and posted it on youtube. No, i didn't even take my gun out of my house. Now, extinguish your torches and rest your pitchforks on the ground. Good. Now we can talk. First of all, I want to say hi, and that it's nice to finally be part of a great community. I live in montreal, I am 16 years old...no! I said put the pitchforks down!... And I have a few friends that are very enthusiastic about airsofting. The current PQAC rules state that you have to be 16 years old to play: http://www.pqacairsoft.com/faq.asp#13 Now, is the PQAC still alive, because the site isn't really up to date. Second, because of all the fire that airsoft has been taking because of immature idiots, do I have to be 18 to play in non-PQAC events? Many of you say that you have to be 18, but in OP photos taken from various canadian games, I can see that some players are not over 18. I've searched the site, google, and every other forum discussing law, but I always come to a dead end when i come here. Alot of players say different things, and I want to get everything straight before I shell out hard-earned money to buy an AEG. PS: I frequently airsoft when we drive down to the US every year, so I know my way around guns, apply proper safety and NEVER carry my gun in public ( that's what cases are for). I am mature, and I would love to finally play with mature people such as yourselves. If you want to flame me, shoot me a PM. I'll make sure not to read it. Thanks for reading, Mike restagno, airsoft enthusiast and mature player. |

Problem is: you have to be 18 to purchase a ASG. So, really, it doesn't matter how mature you (think) are.

Sure he can play at designated areas, but he can't own anything until hes 18. Laws the law, doesn't matter if you see people with guns in photos that you think are underage... you can't own squat till you're of age.

You need to be 18 to buy a Airsoft gun. To play airsoft you need a airsoft gun.
See where I'm going? I don't want to sound mean, but I'm not ballzy enough to lend my very expensive AEG to a kid. |

Pretty much comes down to this. Some fields allow 16 year olds if a parent/guardian can sign for/supervise you at the game. You cannot own or buy an airsoft gun until you're 18. Your parents can, but you have to be under their direct supervision as it belongs to them and they are responsible for your actions.
I joined this board when I was 16 as well. I waited till I'm 18. Read, read, read.

Yes, the PQAC is still alive. The site has not been updated in a long time because the one guy that is taking care of it, fell on his head over a woman and forgot about airsoft. When any PQAC game is announced/organized, it will be posted in the Quebec games section here on ASC.
When we do host games, we do allow 16+ to play. They have to have their parents present on the grounds throughout the time the minor is playing. We do not do baby sitting. Each game host will decide if he will allow minors to play. It is best to pm the game organizer and ask if they do allow minors to play. Welcome aboard and hopefully, we will get to host a game in the near future. There are just too many good fields and games that we do attend to really host a game for ourselves.

Well, thanks alot for your answers. So, if my dad would buy and OWN the gun, would it be legal for me to use it under his supervision? I don't want to do anything illegal, because it would indirectly have a negative effect on airsoft. I don't want that, and you guys don't want that, so I'll have to nag a bit , especially when it comes to " what if" situations.
PS: Kos, I know that they won't let me buy a gun based on maturity, i just wanted to know what age I had to be to purchase one. PSS: It's nice to know that PQAC still lives. I guess that's what happens when girls try to take over your life, but in my case, i made sure airsoft won every battle . Last edited by ArmaliteWhore; August 26th, 2007 at 00:10.. |

There are 4 PQAC admins, 2 are still active in airsoft. Raven and I. Raven's job has him travelling alot of the times and I can't really host a game by myself. We do plan to organize a game in Sept/Oct but the details has yet to be finalized.

To KOS:TWO???? Jeez, the last time I checked, there were 4 or 5. C'est la vie, I guess.
So if I used my dad's gun under HIS supervision, could I play? To Bruce: TWO???? Well, if you and Raven are up to it, I really hope you organize a game. I'll finally get to play with the PQAC ( one of my dreams ( for a few years, at least)). Last edited by ArmaliteWhore; August 26th, 2007 at 00:17.. |
