Gearbox in Not so good XM8

I was taking apart my Tippmann (Stop Laughing, I got it and a plastic version for free so muh) And noticed this crappy plastic gearbox that hasn't failed or givin me any trouble...YET. So I was wondering if anyone knew of any gearboxes that I could replace the one I have now with?

They're not made to be upgraded with gearbox parts from real airsoft parts. I don't believe clearsoft designs even correspond to any actual version of gearboxes.

Well, I wouldn't be to surprised. I looked around the interwebs and noticed a striking resemblance to the China Air XM8 as shown at A&A.

Tippmann don't produce their own LPEGs, they're rebrands. That sucks, because Tippmann products are usually of pretty decent quality.

Use it 'till it breaks, then trade up.

The Tippmann uses a v.3 mechbox if I am not mistaken. A friend had the same one, and upon examining it you should be able to tear out the stock internals fairly easily and replace them with an entirely new mechbox.

You also have 3 years to go before you are 18 and can legally play or even own an airsoft gun. So save up, buy something decent then.

(unless things have changed drastically at local fields... the possession laws have not changed)

Really right now I am just into airsoft because I am interested in the guns (Not THE guns, well I am, but I mean the mechanical bits), And I am getting things in order till the 18th year... So I want to enter into playing with a fair amount of knowledge about the hardware, right?

Thank you, I'm going to look into this, I find the only problem is the gearbox before this AEG is any good... Crappy Gearbox.

Oh, this comes to mind. Um, If this is in fact a v.3, Do you guys suppose I could put a Reinforced gearbox with a 350 FPS upgrade in successfully?

if the tipmann is indeed a rebranded firepower/BE xm8 you will have to modify a mechbox slightly to fit it in, by filing off a few nubs here and there
it isnt complex and you should be able to just do the fitting once you see the mechbox

Well unfortunatly I had a similar problem with my JG AKS-47 which had the Plastic gearbox, and today after opening it up, I tried to put in metal V3. Gears. The Gearbox would not accept them at all, the Standard V3. Gears are larger than the stock gears. So like as stated before, you can upgrade these LPEG's, its a real dissapointment.

Well, what if I replace the gearbox all together?
