Upgrading my KSC G19
I have had my KSC G19 for some time now and i think its time for an upgrade. The Hurricane High Flow Valve Kit seems to a good choice and it would be nice to know if anybody has had previous experience with this upgrade. Has it made your Glock amazing, has it changed little, where did you buy it, what other upgrades do you recommend and so...
I am also thinking about a metal slide, any input/advice would also be appreciated. |

Avoid buying the G&G metal slides, they rarely work (from my experience with two of them) at all when first installed, lots of filing needs to be done to get them to cycle.
You don't NEED to settle on a high flow kits or whatever, my G19 shoots about 340fps w/ 0.20g (265fps w/0.43g) and all I have in it is a tightbore, metal slide, enhanced spring guide and 150% hammer spring. |

Hmm... sounds simple yet effective. Where did you buy the tightbore, i haven't seen many around. Also, what is the make on your medal slide (and outer barrel possibly).

I got my G19 with the metal slide already, but it looks like it's been milled out of a block of aluminum, I think it might be G&P. The G&G is very cheap pot metal, is as light as plastic and feels like fine sandpaper.
I got the tightbore from either UNC or WGC, I think it was like $22US and made by Head 1950. It's a 6.04mm. |

Just bought a metal slide and barrel for my G19, I already have the upped springs and it shoots very nice as is.. I plan to tightbore it down the line but since its my beater GBB, wont worry about that for to long, right now it shoots pretty damn hard, far, and accuate.

By springs you mean the recoil spring and hammer spring, renegade)?
I've been looking at UNC and they seem to have a lot of useful stuff Also, do you suggest i take part in a group order, or just order it solo? Any disadvantages to ordering it myself? |

Group orders are fine, generally you can save on shipping, but it might take longer for the order to get in because they are usually postdated to give people a chance to join.

There are a few group orders going on now, alwyas easiest to get in on one as long as your not in to much rush for the part, unless you go through Jugglez and he litterally flies over to UNC and gets the parts for you that fast..

I've been looking through the For Sale - Parts and Accessories forum but cant seem to find any. Is there a separate section for this?

Nope, BB's is the current one running, some members run private orders for regular players and such. His is in the Parts section tho, closes Aug 15.

I've used the Hurricane upgrade kit a lot of times. It's a great kit for the money, with reasonable performance. The only thing wrong with it is that the floating valve doesn't work. Other than that, the kit can get you up to 360fps shooting 0.20g BBs with propane.
"Made my Glock amazing"? It's not as good as a careful selection of each individual part, but again, great bang for the buck. As usual, the hammer spring is a pain in the butt to install and you'll also need a valve tool to replace the flow valve. As for metal slides, I second CDN_Stalker's sentiment on the G&G metal slide. It rarely works out of the box, but as with many higher quality metal slide/frame/barrel kits, some fitment is typically required to get the higher tolerancing part to fit the loower toleranced oem die-casted parts. It guarantees a more custom fit with minimal play for higher accuracy. If you're not familiar with nor fond of modifications, just get the generic G19 metal slide/outer barrel kit. As with many of the lower priced metal kits, it is a die-casted zinc-aluminum pot-metal part that you can score for less than $100. It's a direct drop-in part, very rarely have I ever seen fitment modifications required to it. But if you're anal with performance and can afford this slide kit, there are some areas you can polish to reduce drag and increase performance. Again, because it's die casted to loose tolerances to fit a wide range of tolerances on the frame of your gun, there will be some rattling of the slide and the outer barrel. That can translate into slightly looser groupings. As for tightbores, I've always used the KM TN 6.04mm tightbores, in lengths from the G19 length up to the G17 length when it's shrouded with a threaded outer barrel (from the G&G kit.) Any and all parts I ever get are through my overseas orders. Want to get in on one? I offer discounted preorder pricing, contact me by PM for more info on it. |

I was forced to upgrade to a Firefly Rocket Valve because its plastic counterpart had snapped in half. So I'm not too worried about the floating valve not working in the Hurricane set.
For now, Ill do some more research, and snoop around the UN Company website till i find what i want and then possibly take part in your overseas order. If any body else has anything useful to say... I'm still listening *Edit: ILLusion, do you have any WGC group orders coming up, or do you know of somebody who does?* Last edited by Nick_273; August 1st, 2007 at 20:08.. |
