SystemA PTW MAX inner barrel swapping question
I noticed that the inner barrels come as complete units with hopup and everything on them and the outer barrel. I was wondering if anyone has tried putting an M16 length inner barrel into say an M4A1 and cover it up with a silencer. There is only one set of cylinders available so I guess there wouldn't be a worry about having ported and non-ported cylinders as with normal AEG's but I was wondering about compatibility. Its just that I'm selling off my AEG collection to get a PTW but ideally I want a carbine but at some games I will want an M16 length barrel but can't afford two PTW's.

I wouldn't worry about it. You don't need an M16 length barrel in an M4.
These don't function or perform like any AEG out there. I get accuracy in 10.5" PTW that guys with upgraded M14's don't get. The PTW tightbore kits are made and sold the way they are because older generation (1-3) use aluminum outer barrels that are a slightly smaller inner diameter than what the new 6.04 barrels are in their outer diameter. This forces you change the old outer barrel out in order to accomodate the new inner barrel. There is no design or hardware reason that would prevent you from doing this, but it would be a waste of your $200 U.S. as all PTW's shipped from Systema after January of this year come with 6.04 barrels anyways. Invest your money in cylinder kits and batteries as they will make far more difference in your performance than buying a redundant tightbore kit.

One important thing to keep in mind is that somewhere along the lines, Systema changes inner barrel diameters from time to time.
For example. I have two PTW guns here. Both M4-A1's. We will call them PTW A and PTW B. PTW A's inner barrel fits into PTW B very easy. However PTW B's inner barrel wont fit into PTW A. After trying to tap PTW barrel B into gun A, I had to use a rod and a hammer to get it back out destroying the brass barrel. Cough cough... Take that for what you will.

what about the 3rd burst as opposed to the full auto? I was wondering what people with experience with the two versions thought. Also how complex did you think the conversion was? ( I am unaware at this point if you can get the 3 rd burst from factory or no) sry for the slight thread Jack but I am lookin for a PTW and i'm very interested in the 3rd burst

You can make your full-auto PTW into a 3-burst model by soldering across the "P-1" terminals on the main board, or so I'm told. But it is a permanent mod, unless you de-solder the connection or install a single-pole single-throw switch across those points. Then you can have either 3-burst or full depending on switch selection.
A tiny micro-switch will suffice.

My PTW has only semi and 3 round burst.
Having that kind of ability/control really helps during a firefight. Since I have had the Systema, there would have only been maybe one or two occasions where full auto would have been an advantage, but then again, the gun can keep up when ya pull the trigger faster. |

I also got the 3 round burst model direct from factory that way. It's neat as hell - you can let go of the trigger before the first shot is even complete and it will still complete the 3 round burst.
And if you only have say... 2 rounds left in the gun, it's smart enough to stop firing after the 2nd shot of the burst. |

http://www.zshot.com/ the burst is unfortunatly an m16 option, but i agree i would prefer the burst for fire and trigger control. go here and download the product line up/ cutsheet

I have NM4A1-MAX and it is semi/full. In retrospect, I think I would rather have 3-burst standard, but I'm not going to alter my guns, except the older M16. I will make it semi-only and upgrade it to MAX standards. I have a use for a gun like that. Full-time M150, I say!!!

I'd sooooo love to play with the M150, but it'd never be allowed...
I just HAD to spend the money on the battery for it though. It's sheer awesomeness, firing an airsoft gun at 500+fps... |

The NM4A1-MAX I have does have the semi/3 round burst, was requested and came that way. Best option IMHO.

I went and looked at the box again and I have the M4-A1 MAX (I typed it exactly as it appears on the box). I guess I erred in what the hell I actually have.
