Prometheus Torque Up gears.
Has anyone had a problem where in the sector gear has begun to separate (piston drive side is coming away from spur gear drive side)?
These were a brand new set of gears, installed and shimmed properly, however began to generate noise after 15 or so test firings. I reopened the gearbox to find that the two sides of the gear had begun to separate. One of the retaining pins appears not to have been pressed deep enough, so on one side there is only a half pin holding it in place. I am considering punching the pin to its proper depth and then using a socket and hammer to seat the other half of the gear. Has anyone done this before? and if so, how long did it last or is the gear set a lost cause? |

never heard of this problems before but the double torque ups are what i use in my M249, by far the highest quality gears i've ever seen.
I had to punch out the pin for the tappet plate on the sector gear and replace it with the wider G&P pin that holds the tappet open longer, never saw any sign of the gears wanting to come apart, so try punching them back together, shoot a few times and check if its coming apart or not. |
