Hammerhead G36 - M4
Hi there !
Just wondering if anybody here ever wanted to customize a G36 or M4 to make a Hammerhead as Redwolf calls it. It's kind of a LMG version of the G36 and a SAW version of the M4 , which I think is really neat. Here are some pics from Redwolf : Last edited by Tank94; July 14th, 2007 at 22:40.. |

Really ?
Well I don't like the g36 that much but I fell in love with the M4. I've always wanted an Armalite but something that stands out , not the typical customized AR. And also I love SAWs but the Star M249 and such are too expensive. Last edited by Tank94; July 14th, 2007 at 22:39.. |

Hmm you could always do an SPR with a cmag setup.

I find them weak in large part due to the fact that it's just slapping a boxmag onto something that isn't meant to feed from a belt (see pics in Cassius's Shrike link to see how it would/should look like if it was feeding from a belt).
On the M4 the handguard looks more like some makeshift garage conversion, too; a proper RIS/RAS setup would have been nicer on this, IMO. The short-ish barrel would also lend itself better to something like a Noveske KX3 or DNTC compensator (dunno if someone makes an airsoft knockoff of that) than the SPR FH. As a variation to TokyoSeven's suggestion (to stay with the original LSW theme), I'd suggest something like a Noveske N4 with a CMAG. Pic Video of the real thing going through some CMags As for the G36 version it's pretty pointless; there's already a real LSW version called the MG36.

Why the fuck is there a huge ass long barrel on a G36c? Hell, that's like friggan morons trying to make an 'MP5 Sniper'. It's fucking stupid.

Well, it being an LMG, I'd assume it'd need the short handguard to allow the barrel to cool down. But... it could just be "rice".

Actually, there was a real HK94 SG/1 marketed in the 80s. It was intended for LE and CTU markets as an "urban sniper" system (think "building across the street") that could address over penetration.
The idea failed. It seems at least one police department wasn't too concerned with over penetration, anyway: Now that's some urban sniping.

hey when you have to get through a brick wall to kill someone, you gotta do what you gotta do
personally i find any rifle with a drum or box magazine a waste and an insult to people making purpose built light machine guns. If it can't use a belt or swap barrels quickly its not a machinegun, IMO the RPK falls under the same category as the BAR (an automatic rifle) |

Well, yes.
And there are categories they fall into: full caliber MGs, rifle calibered GPMGs, short rifle (assault rifle) caliber LMGs, and fixed barrel mag fed LSWs (like the L86, MG36, RPK and Chinese type 95). And you do have GPMG/LMGs (with quick changeable barrels) such as the Ultimax and Russian DP/DPM, which are drum fed (ok, more like a car air filter on the DP... but you get my point :P )
