Airsoft / Clearsoft - Long Term Reliability Study - Just a Thought
I was discussing this with Bravo One-Six, and he didn't mind me putting a few thoughts down here. And by no means is this thread supposed to turn into another "They're coming for our Guns, The sky is Falling".
Let me start out by saying that the study is actually a great idea. The only issue I have is by the actual Date Obtained part. Although probably 99% of the guns were obtained after '98, stating it in writing might not be the brightest idea considering that Law Enforcement is thought to monitor this site. Remember, anything obtained after '98 would be illegal (unless you were a production company, or had a BFL). The obvious arguement is "Well, a P90 wasn't even introduced to airsoft until after '98, and therefore if LE wanted to prosecute me, they could". This is true, but you would be a much easier target if you admit it in writing. Possession isn't a crime, acquiring it is, and by filling out the date, you ARE admitting to acquiring it after '98. I would hate for the Reliability Study to be an Airsoft Registry. There has been enough paranoia regarding Real Steel being taken away for us to worry about that too. The study would be just as valuable without putting the date down. Enjoy!!! |

Has a life outside Airsoft
|
imho it would work out a lot better if Airsoft was brought out of the \"Grey Area\" and given a specific set of rules, such as being 18+ and owning a PAL to buy/trade Airsoft guns to other\'s with their PAL\'s. I\'m saying this as a 16 year old as well, If Airsoft was illegal until I was 18 and not in the Grey Area, I would abide by it.
From what I\'ve seen though (and their isn\'t much I can do about it since I\'m not over 18 yet), is that the Canadian Airsoft community is all talk and no action when it comes to going to the Government with ideas and information. Nothing is going to happen until we start agreeing as a community, on what the standards should be. Hell if orange tips become mandatory, I\'d rather use one then not play at all. Anyways, this is going a little off topic so I\'ll stop here.
