New to this game

THis guide doesn't help much. Which retailers should I refer to? I live in BC lower mainland, so it would be good if you suggest me a local retailer.

Has a life outside Airsoft

Canadian Tire guns are not airsoft, they are "Softair" which is a crappy rip of. Buy yourself and elastic band and a ruler, it will probably work better then the Canadian Tire guns.
If your not ready to fork over the $200 Minimum to get an AEG don't bother!
