Sticky piston? on p226.
Can anyone tell me what is going on here. to me this doesnt look right. On my new KJW p226, when i pull back the slide this gray thing, i believe to be the piston, is sticking. when i pull the slide all the way back it comes undone, but to my knowledge this shouldn't be happening. it started occurring after i performed a take down.
an underview look, this is what is happening when the slide is pulled back (not fully) it seems like the mouth of the plastic gray thing, is sticking inside the metal entry to the barrel just beyond the magazines lips. On the metal entry there also appears to be wear. a review on the p226 mentioned this. what was unexpected was that the piston itself was also stuck in the expanded position. I had to push the piston back forcefully and thought that my troubles were only due to breaking-in the gun. I was wrong. The same thing happened again and again and even sometimes, putting the entire gun at a halt, preventing the gun to cycle again due to the stuck piston. I opened the gun up and found that some scratch marks had developed on top of the piston, part#12. Checking the metal chamber it sat in I found the edges of part#3 to be very sharp and jagged so much so that they scratched up the piston. I remedied this by simply smoothening out the said area using sandpaper of different grits and then finally applying liberal amounts of ceramic grease. You can use silicon grease too, it’s just that I like this particular lubricant. Reassembling the gun and checking again for rough spots, I went and lubricated the hammer to sear engagement as it was a little gritty. The lube removed all traces of grit. True enough, filling her up with green and test firing proved that I had solved the problem on my gun. Another problem that I found was that one of the plastic grip panels was warped by about 1mm. Using a lighter to correct this warp proved to be efficient enough. but the fact remains that the gun, if left in its un-modified condition would have soon self destructed. The P226 is a great improvement in the KJ lineup but the internals do still need some work in order to work without fear of breakage. I would recommend this gun to newbies too if not for the need to have some experience with minor gun repair to begin with. Im not sure what to do as im not used to GBBs. Should i be looking for something? any help is apprciated. also the gun has not been fired due to fear of damage. |

Like I mentioned in the other thread. The "piston" or loading nozzle KJW made for this gun has a major defect. This happened to me before, purchase the gaurder enhanced version and everything will be ok. While your at it get a new recoil spring to, this will prevent any problems in the future.
Just to add soon enough a piece of that loading nozzle will snap off. |

Yes it will work. But it will jam alot... the recoil of this gun is very weak also. The upgrade spring will make it much more sharper and much more crisp.

just got from the armory
1 x Guarder Upgrade Recoil/Hammer Spring for MARUI P226 (150%) (PHTM-P226-02) = $15.00 1 x Guarder Upgrade Loading Nozzle for MARUI P226 RAIL (PHTM-P226-13) = $27.50 so hopefully this will work and i can get this thing working. |

Second that, My 226 runs off the Guarder 150% upgrade spring/hammer kit, it makes a world of difference to as he said, more crisp performance.

Seems that a new gun should just work shouldn't it? Since it's costing you to make it work (fix it!) that's a sign of bad quality. My HFC Glock that I bought was under scrutiny by people on here for quality, and it works like a charm, but now that I see this, I'm wondering why they said that. Now with this it's just "oh yeah you have to replace that and it'll be fine".
You shouldn't have to replace shit on a new gun! |

well its not a prominent issue, i can still use it but its durability is questionable, its like m4 barrel wobble or mp5 charging handle IMO. plus if you ever put your hand son one of these, 40 bucks isnt so bad.

I'm just saying it should work great out of the box. You might want to upgrade it for more power, sure, but the damn thing should work correctly out of the box. Maybe it's not common. But I just tells it like I sees it. I just bought a KJW 229 from RaygisLasvegas, so we'll see what that one is like when I get it. I'm a little worried now because of this thread. Also, in my thread "Hypothetical Question" people said my Glock internals look better than KJ, so hmm.......

Just fired it today, hits hard and clean out of the box on propane. As hard as a "hard kick" TM.
