ICS M4 Anniversary 2006 edition question and problem

question first: My ICS M4 anniversary 2006 edition has only the ICS engravings on it... not the Olympic arms. Yet I have seen the Olympic arms M4 anniversary 2006 edition pictures on web sites selling the gun.

Does anyone know why this the case AND is there any differences between the two like workmanship?

Then my problem... The piston, made out of aluminum, after only 1000 rounds the first exposed tooth (the thicker one near the end of the piston tube) is showing a good bit of wear... a bit alarming to me. Called the company they claim that is normal for a high powered aeg, I'm not sure that I believe them. Anyone have any ideas?

I have been using the release before storage and opening of the gun AND I have been avoiding dry shots.
