just put a new spring in my famas and now it seems to be jamming all the time. i know im not supposed to use cantire bbs but it was the only thing i could get at the time and needed something to test it with. could the bbs be my problem.

There could be a few problems. First the bbs are probably it. The CT bbs are a little smaller and don't feed properly, they also have imperfections. Also the spring might have gotten warped and ruined.

OMG CT BBS in a TM Gun.. Well first of that was a major mistake.. also
be careful that the spring isnt too strong as it will FUBAR the mechbox.

Get the bbs out and try a real .20 not that .12 crap..

the one thing i dont have to worry about is the spring. its a 140% pdi and drake said he had one in his gun for a while and it has not caused his gun any problems. i did happen to take the whole gun appart when trying to get the mechbox detatched and im pretty shure i put it back together properly. so i guess it must be the bbs.

what kind of jam? mechanical jam in the mechbox or the bbs are actually jamming in the barrel? im guessing the first as the latter would be obvious problem and solution, my guess is its the battery. i had the same problem lol. try a higher capacity battery and you should see the problem dissapear.

are you sure its not a hopup concern? ive gad my hopup cranked too high which caused jams, but that was also with shitty bb's

so does it jam in the feed chamber or in the mag then?

one thing ill add - I had a team mate buy cantire bb's when he first started. we reccommended he not use em, but like you it was all he had. so he loaded up his hicap and played a game. no more than an hour into it his gun stopped propelling bbs. I (like you) assumed it was a mag feed issue or a hopup issue. tested his mag - worked fine, and went to look at his hopup. i could see his hopup rubber was blocking the path - some how it had come disloged and folded itself between the magwell feed chamber and the hopup. so i took apart his gun only to have a few shards of plastic fall out. upon closer inspection i found his hopup had blown apart, along with his air nozzle.

what had happened is a cantire bb jammed half way up his barrel, and every round he fire after either shattered or just continually jammed behind all the way back to the hopup. on the last round, there was no where for it to go, so, the air nozzle struck it rather than propelling it, and shattered, along with fragmnting his hopup.

keep that in mind and ensure that this hasnt happened with yours.

I use small amounts of CT BBs in my mags, just a dozen or so red ones to let me know the mag is almost empty. Never had a problem with them.

As far as the feeding issue goes, make sure you put in a drop of silicon oil into the feed tube every thousand shots or so to make sure the BBs slide through the breach easily, otherwise if it gets sticky, feed issues will occur.

For the docs, this aeg is sporting a 590mm 6.03mm tightbore and heavy alterations on the mechbox..one piece metal cylinder and whole new piston, etc.

If the loading nozzle wasn't seated right, I could see it jamming the little rubber piece on the end of the barrel inside the barrel a little.

Regardless, I did mention that you shouldn't put anything larger than a PDI 130% into it.

what little piece are you talking about? maby thats what im missing and thats why its jamming. perhaps part fs-25 in this diagram. Becuase the problem seems to be originating in that area of the gun.

Yup, that little rubber bit that forms part of the hop-up. If it's not seated correctly, I can definitely see it causing all sorts of problems.
