The Professional (movie) Airsoft bb in scene
Ok so its late night watching the professional one of my favorite movies and relaxing when all of a sudden in one of the early scenes an airsoft pellet falls from a pistol right onto a dead guys back I had to laugh.
Looks like a miss feed or hopup problem to me http://www.blue-gecko.net/proof.jpg (56k warning) It is in the scene where the crazy ass cop guy kills the girls family as he shoots down the father he walks to his dieing body and starts firing point blank. You will see the bb fall and roll on the dead body. WOOPS Just thought it was funny as hell |

Holy fucking hell! I've seen this movie countless times, I even bought three differant versions of it, its one of my top three favorite movies of all time, and never before have I noticed that. Indeed when I check the international version DVD (closest at hand), a BB falls from Stan's revolver when he is firing it downward to the dad. I think there was even two BBs fallen out, as my girlfriend also noticed one fall into the guy's hair seconds before. Took some screenshots to confirm it, once I can make them work properly I'll post them for you all.

If your using an airsoftgun in a movie, why in gods name do you need to actually load it?

Maybe so you can shoot it so that it will cycle normally and the slide won't lock back after each shot? That's what I'm thinking.

Also its a good way to get the actor to react to a round shot usualy it would be edited out later.
Its a revolver so i doubt its a slide lock thing |

Also less likely to have an accident on the set by someone not knowing how to "load" a gun with blanks, E.I. the movie "The Crow" in which an un-experienced armourer screwed up the loading of a revolver and it ended up killing Brandon Lee.

Brandon Lee was at fault as well no where in his script was he instructed to put the gun to his head and pull the trigger or so I have read............. I wasn't there so I don't know it all

In addition to that, the revolver was being fired quite close to the actor's back. Even the muzzle flash from a blank round can cause burns.
The gun that killed Brandon Lee was held by someone else. Have you even seen 'The Crow'? There was a piece of debris lodged in the barrel that was propelled by the charge of the blank round.

IIRC the autopsy documents released (pdf somewhere, google it) stated a wound to the abdomen.

The armourer that had loaded the gun from what I heard, had placed plastic tips on the blanks so that they looked like real rounds from the front of the gun for the camera shot, not realizing that they would become a projectile capable of killing someone. This was to have taken place during the scene where the shop owner that was on the floor had fired at Brandon while he was standing in the doorway.

I have the DVD and in the special features they talked about Gary Oldman's revolver going off by accident in the part where he was gunning down the guy for "ruining his suit" and firing point blank into his back. When he kept pulling the trigger even though the gun was empty. I believe they were using blanks, but, I'll have to check out this scene 'cause from that I don't think it could be an airsoft BB, only other thing that comes to mind is a piece of the squib?
I'll check this shizz out, as soon as I get off the shitter. Only the cool people browse ASC while pooping. |

Found this on the internet.
As filming finally neared completion, eight days from wrap to be exact, yet another accident would rock the slip-shod production. Several prop masters, in an attempt to save time and money, made a grave decision regarding some bullet cartridges that were to be used for a scene involving a close-up shot of a handgun being fired. During the scene, the gun was loaded with "dummy" cartridges, which are used for close-up shots because they contain the actual projectile on the end of the cartridge but contain no gunpowder. (It looks more realistic if the viewer can see the bullet tips in the pistol's cylinders.) It seems that the prop department didn't have any of these "dummy" cartridges on hand, so rather than shut down the production for the night, some Bozo decided that he'd "rig" some of the live rounds. They removed the gunpowder from the cartridges and replaced the bullet tips thereby giving them the "dummy' rounds that were needed for the close-up shots. At some point, one of the tips would unknowingly come loose from the cartridge and lodge itself in the barrel or cylinder of the handgun. (The subsequent investigation never conclusively determined how or why the bullet tip came dislodged.) |
