A great gun. However it's performance is countered by a so-so, plasticky finish.

We used to have 3 (We still have some in the team inventory). Great, well balanced AEG. The main problem is the MB upgradability. You can push, but not that far.
A simple paintjob offset the squeaky body. The mag can drop because of the mag release switch position. You just have to reinforce it (Putting a foam of some sort in the back cavity) After a few simple mods, mine was a sharp, reliable AEG. |

IMHO, the drawbacks of the famas will really limit the gun when you do have more money.
Compared to other AEGs, I find the famas feels much more like a plastic toy. The V1 mechbox is nothing special. Some people do really well with them, but there is a reason most people pass on the gun. Its a love or hate gun. If you ask me, just going by ASCA prices, you can get a TM MP5 or a CA AUG A2 for the same price as the famas F1. Spend upto $50 more and you could take your pick from the TM AK, MP5, P90, G36c, etc. If your finding one super cheap used, then go for it. But new, you can get excellent guns for the same price, if not $50 more. just a thought. The extra $20 to $50 spent on a higher end gun will do you much better. Take a look through the ASCA site. When your old enough to own your own gun, Im sure you'll be able to afford the extra few bucks. Last edited by Droc; January 26th, 2007 at 03:39.. |

you dont need to spend near that much.
With the TM AK47, G36, P90, an assortment of MP5 versions, Classic army aug, TM m16 and on and on for all under $500 at ASCA, you can take your pick. take a look at this thread http://www.airsoftcanada.com/showthread.php?t=24007 |

Get age-verified (necessary step), check the classifieds, go to games and rent a gun a few times first.
It wont cost you $1000 to get something decent BUT... remember you also need a battery or two, a GOOD battery charger, some spare magazines, ammo, protective equipment and clothing that wont make you stand out. Budget your transportation to games and game fees. If you are underage and poor, wait and save your cash. Dont buy crap. Dont try to find loopholes. |

well, i dont need to worry about gear, i have 3 sets of 80s canadian olive drab(lol), a set of US woodland, and a set of DPM, some webbing, helmet, goggles and all that other jazz.
pretty much the only thing i need is the gun. and thanks grey, i didnt even think about the batt and charger lol

Right now, your first problem is to prove you are over 18. If not, forget the other plans.

If you keep the Famas stock it will run forever. My Teammate opend
the selector plate up a few months back and we found twigs in the mechbox. It hasnt been opened since and runs like a charm. The Famas is a tank if kept stock but the body is like mouse with jumper cables to its balls.

hes asking for your opinion on the FAMAS what does his age have anything to do with anything at all?? You either have input on the FAMAS or you dont. guys need to relax with the age verified, this shit is annoying.. Did it occur to you that maybe he wants to do his reaserch before he wants to go and buy a 500$ AEG? In time hell get verified- probably if he goes to ASCA in person. |

Good point sirex. This is about the FAMAS F1, not AS methodology. So stay in topic boys! hehe
Hazard is right, the FAMAS is a tank, and like I said a few post away, a paintjob will stop the cheesy squeak (Cheese... mouse... get it?) |
