AK47S Problem
Hi,
I just got my new order for a 8.4v 1200mah Intellect battery for my AK47-S (folding stock version), I charged up the battery and stuck it in my gun. Nothing happened. I got the new battery because I thought it had died (and also because it smelled of battery acid). With the old battery, I charged it and then went to fire my gun. It made a slight "revving" sound, as if it was about to fire...but then stopped. I pulled the trigger some more, but nothing happened. So I ordered a battery, and the new one doesn't work I've decided that the gun is the problem, and if anyone could help (please ask questions because I don't know what you have to know) I'd be very grateful. I've considered that it might be, that the gears are locked up...but there is no sound what-so-ever coming from the gun upon trigger pull. Perhaps there's a problem with the wiring? In any case, I'm unsure if I should contact a gun doctor or try opening up the gun with my dad. I already attempted opening the part that covers the gearbox, and chipped a piece of plastic (put it back together after about 30min, cocking handle is a pain to get back in)...not going to try that again without some help. Is it worth it to get it fixed or should I just sell for parts/as display item? |

Take the motor out of the handle (leaving it plugged in) and make sure it turns freely. If it does then your gears may be jammed, someone else will know how to fix that

Did you look at the fuse? If the gears locked up, the fuse may have blown. That would explain your situation.

C'mon man, no one checks the simple things first. The ASC motto for new players seems to be when the gun don't work, tear apart the mechbox and then post on ASC asking how to put it all back together....

Taking the motor out is simple...

I took the motor out, plugged in the battery (I hear a noise now), but the motor doesn't spin. I noticed the gears in where the motor would meet, and those are moveable.
I'll check my instruction manual to see where the fuse is, and then check it. I also tested the batteries to see if the have juice in them, and they do...so it's not the battery's that are bad. EDIT: I found out where the fuse is, but I'll wait until tomorrow morning to check and replace it. Thanks for the quick and very good advice! Last edited by Moderate; October 27th, 2006 at 19:42.. |

If the fuse is blown, you can check forever and nothing will happen.

So it's best to just replace it?

Well.... yeah? Otherwise you'll get no power at all. Those fuses are available for peanuts at any Canadian Tire.

Checked the fuse: It's not broken/melted inside, and tested it to check ohm's and it's giving out a charge or whatever.
Checked the motor: When battery is connected, motor makes a noise but doesn't do anything. I directly attached the battery to the motor and it runs. Took down the entire gun (except for taking apart the gearbox) to check the wiring, everything seems fine. For a moment there, I could turn the gun upside down (you could hear something moving inside the gearbox) and fire the gun...but rightside up it would either make no sound at all or make a grinding mechanical sound. Finally got it all back together, very frustrating job for a noobie, and tucked away in the case. I'm thinking something is loose inside, but I'd rather have a professional take a look because I've spent the last 6 1/2 hours taking it apart, testing it/finding out what's wrong, and putting it back together, and I don't know what I'm doing. |

If the fuse is ok, and the motor runs fine by itself, then your mechbox is the problem. Finding a local doctor is the best thing.

Update:
JohnnyDo got my gun fixed! I gather, from from his e-mails, that the CM028-S (Cyma :P ) had poor wiring, bad internals, etc. Here are some pictures: New Bevel Gear New Metal Bushings TM AK47 reciever TM AK47 rear stock 4x32 Crosman Scope (Borrowed from a friend, just seeing if my mountless method will work with it) |

That scope just ruins the AK.
Adnd how do you expect to look into the scope when it's that far away or do you stick your face on the upper receiver ackwardly!?!? Most scope's eye relief is only about 1.5". |

lol. It's just for show, until i get a mount/base. Of course I can always move the scope back :P
No Scope: Scope about as far back as it can go without a mount/base: Last edited by Moderate; March 28th, 2007 at 19:24.. |
