.25g ammo is 25% heavier then .20g ammo
expct up to 25% lower fps many threads on airsoft ammo that go into alot of detail. |

I've seen 30-40fps drop also. Don't worry too much about it, considering the knietic energy has gone up, necessary for getting BBs farther and more accurately, and to also help punch through light brush, both which means you'd use less ammo than if you were using 0.20g BBs. Been cases where my 0.20g has bounced off light dead grass, took MANY rounds (the one that comes to mind, the guy was about 50ft away behind the dead grass, took me 1.5 locaps to hit him) to get the BBs through (my MP5 was shooting 350fps then) where heavier ammo would have taken me 3-5 BBs to do the same thing.

your loosing 50fps, but your range is better, trajectory is flatter and your ammo cuts through the bush better.
you could not pay me to use .20g ammo. If I ever run out of .25g ammo, ill drop my mags and just shout "BANG BANG!" |

That's what GBBs loaded with heavier than 0.28g ammo is for! Lol

He was forced to use 0.20g BBs and fire only on semi auto one day because his SR-16 shot very slightly over 400fps (like one at 401 and one at 404fps) twice out of a dozen shots. He wasn't impressed at all (I'd have said fuck off to the 0.20g as well, semi would have been fine for me though). Since then, the rules have been laxed a little bit. He does on the other hand, carry a Hi Capa, so............ I don't think anyone will see Droc running around yelling Bang! Bang!
Besides, everyone knows that his yelling anything projects at the speed of sound, ~642mph hour at sea level, which is about 3,379,200fps, which is over most fields limits. |

I have been using .25's since I got my guns, and my Sig 226 works excelent with them on propane, so does my M4, but I wanna get some heavier bb's for my pistol, increases performance big time.

I believe .25's should be fine since the usual engagement between gbbs are fairly short in distance anyway. It's not everyday that you see someone pulling out their secondary and going gung ho over the field... then again I'm not saying its never been done before :P

Ya, 0.25g for GBB is a minimum. I use heavier BBs (past few games, 0.43g, generally 0.30g or 0.36g) in my KSC G19 for a few reasons I'll list: 1/ Increased range and wind resistance. If you can hit guys 130ft away with a GBB, it'll give you the confidence to go on after you run out of ammo or have a failure with your AEG (at QP2, my MP5 hop up got plugged with sand dust, I relied on my G19 and 6 mags loaded with 0.43g to carry on for a good half hour in a hot zone. Ended up with about 6 kills against guys using upgraded AEGs, I got medic'd once and during that my G19 fell in the sand and had sand kicked over it from the medic dragging my ass off to cover. It still worked the rest of the day!) 2/ Brush penetration. Since it's your back up gun, ammo is very limited and you want the most performance out of it so you can keep playing as long as possible. If you can fire a couple shots that'll have the same effect as a 400fps AEG firing 0.25g in a burst (some bouncing off, some slipping through) then you'd stand a better chance at survival. 3/ Similar to the above, except heaveri BBs hit harder. Lots of guys wear CIRAS and other heavy gear, some even flak vests. They might not hear a lighter BB hit them, less chance of feeling it, but heavier BBs hit harder and louder without being too much, increases the chances the guy will know he got hit and call it. Important considering the limited ammo people tend to carry for their GBBs. Seen too many guys call themselves out of the game because they ran out of Star mags, and even though they carry GBBs, they just walk off to respawn and reload. Me, when my AEG goes down, I stay in the fight as long as I can, and I get superb performance out of my little G19. The more I use it against AEGs, the more confident I am in using it against AEGs because I know how to use it best, and I know the benefits over AEGs. |

i use mostly .2 in my AEG cause well i mostly play indoor and cause the place i buy bb's from only as .2's no .25's but i'm looking in to the .25's for some better shooting.
