Did you have to ask the same question twice?
Read the Reviews, use Google, get age-verified. If you are hell-bent on spending that much cash for a first gun, just do it. I strongly suggest that you try airsoft first, play a bit, rent or try different guns. If you have to ask where you can do that, you searched nothing. |

Take your time and do more research.G&P CQBR is a very nice gun,but it has some reliability problems.(you will find out what these problems are by doing more research). These problmes are fixable, but you have to spend more money and time on it .Buy it if you know how to build a AEG because it is a good deal for the metal body,7mm gearbox, and other parts together. Since this will be your first AEG,I wouldn't recommend any G&P AEG as your first gun. A TM or CA gun would be better choice. You need a gun that works out of the box and last for a long time.

also try the ICS M4 RIS it has all the rails and a longer barrell then that G&P M4, its battery is housed in a PEQ-2 Lazer Box and still has the Vertical Grip. its a Full Metal Gun that wont give you any trouble, at least it doesnt give me trouble.
i recommend ICS, but thats just me, CA is great and TM is great for plastic guns. i dont know much about G&P AEG's |

I have done a TON of research on this gun in the past due to the fact that I just recently puchased one. You guys should make sure you are not leading him astray with false information. The G&P CQB-R is a new version of G&P guns. The older G&P M4's had some reliability issues with the tappet plates and occasional feeding problems. The new version guns (i.e. the CQB-R) have solved all these problems. I have already opened up the gearbox. The older versions used to be shimmed poorly and have hardly any grease at all on the gears. My CQB-R was shimmed damn near perfect and came with ample amount of grease on it. The issue with the tappet plate has also been addressed. I put a sp120 (around 410fps) in it STOCK. The internals of this gun are quite solid and could easily handle an even higher spring that what I put in. Dont be turned off by these "reliability issues" everyone speaks of. They are for the old G&P M4's, NOT the newer CQB-R.
However, I do agree that the CQB-R is quite a gun for a new player. Maybe start with a basic Tokyo Marui gun and work your way up :-D |

You are right,Not all of the G&P AEGs have reliability issues. If your CQBR is recently made, you are probably OK .However,There are many
G&P M4s(including CQBR) made a while ago. There are some batchs of G&P AEGs brought into Canada shoot more than 450FPS out of the box.The internal won't be able to handle the stress for too long. Most G&P M4s should shoot around 400FPS stock. It is hard to tell which one is the later version unless you open the gun. The G&P gun you got in US might be different batch from what available in Canada,so there is still a chance that you can get a G&P AEG with reliability problem in Canada. Quote:

to backup webtek23, G&P guns are great, best metal body you can get, all the internals are good quality, but they are poorly shimmed. you NEED to get it shimmed before use to prevent any future problems that may arise.

before purchasing my PTW, I was going to purchase the G&P with all the research I made, just have it tuned up during your purchase and voila.....I would stick with Systema, G&P, G&G, and ICS "maybe" for AEG's |

G&G is crap, they use magnesium alloy for metals, and their internals are pretty bad too. I've heard of ALOT of G&G guns breaking, and mostly externally.
