large diameter bushings
i am using a stock tm v2 mechbox with area 1000 bushings. the bushings do not fit snug enough to the body for my liking. Infact, they do not sit snug at all and fall right out. Can anyone recomened a bushing with larger external diameter (doesnt need to be much larger just a CH larger so that they sit tight. thanks in advance.

Use a center punch for marking a dimple to drill, put a dent around the bushing hole about 0.5-1mm away from the edge of the hole, enough to spread the edge of the hole inwards a little bit. That will hold the bushing tighter. Dont' bother attempting to put larger bushings in a V2 mechbox, chances are high, even if off by a couple hair's bredth distance, you'll off center a gear or two and destroy your mechbox fast.

I dont quite see the 'falling out' part? They fall outside the mechbox? Or inside the mechbox?
They should not fall outside at all if installed correctly. They should not even be able to do so. |

For a simple, easy, moderately good solution, layer on a bit of oil or airsoft-worthy grease.
I've used that for everything airsoft related and it seems to work great and holding things from falling out. |

He's saying that that the bushings do fit snugly in the holes made for them in the mechbox shell. You can do as Stalker has suggested. I've used a flat-blade screwdriver to do the same thing.
If you don't have them secure in the shell, shimming becomes more difficult to do and there is a risk of the outer race expanding the hole size further if it starts to turn too much during firing. This would only really happen though if there was poor lubrication, for example, and the bushing became seized onto gear axle. I've also seen this happen (bushings had to be pried off of the gears). This would seriously damage the mechbox. This really shouldn't happen with bushings or bearings in any scenario, but happens to airsoft gun mechboxes pretty regularly, especially Marui Ver.II. Most guys will just put the gun together as is. I have been known to throw a mechbox in the trash if I'm not satisfied that I can work with it. A replacement reinforced one can be had in Canada for under $100.

I think he means the bushings he has are loose in the mechbox holes. I recently experieced this myself, can't remember the metal bushings (not good ones though) , there was play with the bushing when it was in the hole (occured on three mechbox holes. I had to close the hole a bit with a punch to seat the bushings so they wouldn't shift around.)
EDIT: Ok, McGuyver posted within the same minute as I did. I replied to the previous guys. |

I will try the hole punch method. I have a G&G mechbox and Guarder 6mm bushings. They fit really loosely on the body. So, I ordered 7mm bushings but was stopped by UPS :banghead: .
