Western Arms mags, no gas, at all... *problem solved*
Got some WA mags (33 round double stack SCW mags for as SCW2 SVI 5.0 Expert, aluminum slide, 150% recoil spring, improved hammer spring) with a gun I bought, been trying to figure out how to fill em with gas from an AI v3 propane adapter (Coleman fat green cans of propane), and it plain doesnt work. The strange thing is, they dont fill, but there is no propane at all, anywhere! I put a drop of propane on the valve, flick the spring loaded tab on the back of the mag down so the valve closes all the way, I turn it upside down, press the propane adapter needle in at as close to 180 degrees as I can (propane nozzle is parallel to the flat back of the mag which is vertical while filling) and...nothing. The mag doesnt fill, no propane sprays anywhere, no sound of discharging gas, no cooling down, absolutly nothing, its like the mags and the propane bottle both have internal pressure equal to that of the air. Even with KJW mags I get a little squirt of propane as I press the nozzle down before the seal is made, dont get that here at all.
I tested out my KJW M9 with the same propane tank and adapter, fired off all 25 rounds in the mag no problem and still had gas left (not a lot, but for a KJW gun, thats pretty good). Also tested a KSC G19, got the usual propane spray while its filling, wait for the spray to increase indicating the mag is full, fill it with BB's, empty the mag, fill it with more BB's, empty it again, fill it again, fires another 2-3 before it runs out of gas. This is exactly how the G19 has always fired with brand new propane tanks.
The person I bought the gun from said ask a local player who uses a WA gun to test em out but being stuck in Sudbury for another week at minimum and not knowing a single local player here (I play in Ottawa), I have no one to ask for awhile. The seller tested em before he sent em to me and said they worked fine, I trust him. It is a fairly old propane tank, been used a lot, I can still hear fluid in it when I shake it and as said it still fills KJW and KSC mags fine, does WA mags need a really full propane tank to work? The gun came with two mags and they are both doing the exact same thing, so I kinda ruled out fill valves clogged as the chances of both being clogged in the same way is so small (one mag is obviously brand new, the other looks like its been inserted into the gun once or twice but is otherwise brand new).
Anyone know what is wrong? Braindead user? Propane too low? Bad karma (first the dead M3 shorty, then leaky 2 quart canteen, then spontaneously broken KJW BB lips, then leaky hydration system, then an accidentally almost fried mini battery, then the mini battery connector falls off without touching it...and its my first season!)?
Note: My original problem was the mag bottoms would freeze, I wasnt at 180 degrees to the bottom so it sprayed the propane and frosted them up, but now I'm as close to 180 degrees as I can get and it just does nothing.
