psg-1, BB drops out of barrel, hop-up problem?
I recently brought a psg-1. Didn't do any upgrade. Then i found everytime i fire, the BB will drop out from the end of barrel instead of flying out(the hop-up is at normal position, turn to the right end). Then i took it back to the shop, they said it is something to do with hop-up. They took it apart and "fix" it. I picked it up today, it is working fine, then i turned the hop-up dial to its "normal" position again (its right end.), then BB start to drop out again, i turned the hop-up dial to left about 2 or 3 dials, it is fine again. My question is : is this right? i mean you have to adjust hop-up first to make psg-1 working? this is only AEG i have, i have two mk23, and even i turn the hop-up dial to the end ot left, both mk23's champer is still able to hold the BB. Could anyone tell me why this is happening PLEASE!!!!
Many many Thanks. csukcs@hotmail.co.uk Really need help. |

could be that your hop is over-adjusted, wherin the hopup restricts the bb to the point that it can't leave the barrel at a high rate of speed, and has 'just' enough energy to roll out,

The hop up being at the far right doesnt mean its correct. You have to adjust the hop up accordingly in order for the bb to fly out at a staight trajectory...
So set the hop up so the bb flies out as straight as possible, and thats all you gotta do, thats why its there.

over-adjusted? is that possible to not not enough adjusted? i TURN THE DIAL TO THE RIGHD END, WHICH MEANS IT IS THE MOST"normal" position. is it called zero position?

I think what he means is that when he turns the hop-up off, the BB rolls out the barrel. When he turns it on, its fine.
Which is rather odd.

Not sure what you mean, but you need at least some hopup for any AEG to work. If you set it at zero, BBs will roll out and you wont have any accuracy at all.

Acutally having no hop and rolling bbs is common for me. Even with my stock gun I've had that problem. How often do you play with no hop up anyways.

OK dude, time to learn how to use a hopup.
1. Hopup put a backspin on bbs which gives them more range. Its similar to how a baseball pitcher puts a backspin on the ball so he can throw it in a straight line, whereas basemen and outfielders have to arc the ball. 2. Hopup achieves this by having a little rubber piece that the bb rests against before it is fired. When you fire the gun, the rubber piece causes the bbs to spin, just like the pitchers ball. Having the hopup off (which is what you are doing) means the bb is no longer resting against anything, and thus rolls out the barrel. 3. The whole point to having an adjustable hopup is so you can 'tune' it for your particular ammo and guns power. To adjust it, go outside when you have a good bit of room and start with the hopup 'almost' off. Shoot and watch how the bbs fly. Increase it until the bbs start flying upwards at the end of their flight. Then fine tune it until the bbs travel level. 4. BAM! You now have your hopup properly adjusted and are getting maximum range from your gun. You will need to readjust it every so often, so pay attention to how your bbs fly.

Set your hop up about half way and do your thing. If you bought your gun new, then the hop up was turned fully off and that is causing your problems. Zero hop up means the hop up bucking nub inside the barrel is flush with the barrel, and there is nothing to hold the BB in place ready to be fired, hence the BB rolling out your barrel. And to set the hop up properly, yo uneed at least 100ft to be able to watch if the BB goes down, straight, up, whichever. Even if yo uare shooting in a 30ft basement, you still need hop up set to normal outdoors levels. You don't think "Ok, I'm only shooting 30ft, so I don't need hop up, so I'll turn it off for now."
