Importing Thermal Scopes

Hey everyone, I was thinking of importing a thermal scope from China to Canada (picatinny attachment if that matters, not a monocular), would there be any issues at the Border? Is there any place I can contact to get an answer?

As long as there is not a reticle in it you should be fine. I would be suspect of quality, what price point you looking at?

If it’s from China or the US, No retical and no picitini…

As started above if your looking at knock off Thermal, can’t help you. Unless your looking at the cheap Torri Pines stuff then just buy it from a dealer here.

If your looking for real thermal 3.5K-50k you can get the UK stuff or CAD stuff… UK/Pulsar CAD/Alpha Optics. Multiple dealers carry these thermal “scopes”

Yeah they're picatinny mounted with reticles so there might be issues then. There's many Chinese scopes around 3k to 5k with specs that rival the in country 4k - 6k models so it's very tempting to try and import them

I imported a Leupold LTO thermal tracker from the US without any issues. Technically not a scope but it does have an on-screen retical that can be turned on and off.

If you're on Facebook try joining the group "Canadian Night Vision Builders and Users", there's a few people on there who have experience importing night vision into the country so they may know the specifics on thermals. From my personal experience I purchased a thermal rifle scope off Ebay, an IRay Saim SCP19 from England. I didn't have any issues with customs, but admittedly it's much more of a budget unit compared to what you're trying to bring in.
