Which AK AEG?
I am getting an AEG sometime soon. I want an AK that is metal, and won't need to be upgraded first thing to compete. I'm looking at these 5:
> G&G RK104 > Tokyo Marui AK Beita Spetsnaz > Tokyo Marui AK47 > ICS AK47M (Fixed Stock) > Classic Army SLR105 A1 Does anyone own any of thses? how do you like them? do you have any other's you would recommend? |

So far Mcguyver (One of the most prominant airsoft mechinist) has suggested that the ICS is an excellent buy and out performs the CA and G&G in the ak category, and believe me mcguyver is very, ver,y very knowledgeable in the area of upgrading and aeg guns. So if I were you Id go for the ICS ak. They come with steal bushings and the new batches of ICS aks will come with their newly designed turbo 3000 motor the correction of the bevel gear.

Since I own two AK's, I'll say there is nothing wrong with the Marui products.
No, the body is not metal. But yes, it's a very good gun. No, you dont need to upgrade it to play. You dont need to upgrade any gun to compete, you just need to learn how to use it. |

From the point of view of a retailer that has been selling them, here's my PERSONAL opinion:
TM: Excellent gun, more than proven itself over the years. No metal body. G&G: hmmmm.... not my first choice at all ICS: Excellent quality, metal body, and hear very, very little negative feedback. CA: Not qualified to say, as we have not sold much of any CA over the past couple of years. Although we have gone ahead, and placed an order for some inventory, it has not arrived yet, and It would be unfair for me to comment either negative or positively on the CA brand at this time! Just my personaly views from a sellers point of view!

I picked up a G&G RK 104 from A&A Airsoft in MB. I've seen the TM, didn't want to deal with the stock wobble. Have fired the ICS, very cool looking almost the same build as the G&G, but having owned an ICS M4 in the past I decided against.
I took a chance with G&G sure, but hell it was worth it. Most solid gun I've held to date. Power was there, it hit 349 on the chrony. Fired nice and straight out of the box. Most realistic to strip of all brands. I tried the G&G, 30 round Star mag, TM and CA mags and they all fit and fed fine. I work at www.xtreme-tactics.com which is why I had so many different types available to try if anyone is wondering. G&G finally got it right. You can trust them on this one.

I love my TM AK, but i can tell you my second AK is probably not going to be a TM one unless i opt for a Guarder kit (RPK). I've held and fired all of them. IMHO i liked the ICS AK 74, comes with the mount alright, nice FPS, all metal, remains to see what will happen in the long run.
Having said that, the G&G AK 104 really impressed me (except for the stock) |

ya i also recommend the ICS AK74M. Very good gun, and heard not alot of bad things about it.
Oh and the side mount isn't the right size. but there are many different mounts for AK in RL.

Just a note on the G&G 104. I opened 'er up because I read in a review that the gearboxes are pretty dry. I found this to be the case in mine as well.
The internals themselves looked and felt great, but it was very dry inside. In fact some of the grease that had collected in little pockets were almost dry and solid. Not sure if this is common amongst most makes, but I thought it was worth posting. Anyway now that my hop up is broken in the gun shoots around 369. Still very pleased. -Trip

I own the ICS AK and Im extremely happy with it. Lemon motor, but aside from that, excellent gun.
Better trades then the G&G and the G&G has a wack threaded barrel. It got average reviews, but nothing spectacular. It took me some time to decide between the ICS and the G&G AKs but the ICS seemed to be the winner. |

Yeah the G&G has a 20mm threading which doesn't help when the majority of the velocity reducers and supressors are 14mm. I did hear that there is a 20mm PBS-5 that will fit though.
