Which Tune-Up Kit?
I hear the saying, "You get what you pay for," alot on these forums and I want to get a full tune up kit for my M16 so I do not have to worry about things not upgraded. I have a Systema M120 spring at the moment but I am looking for a tune up kit to go with it. Now, like I said above, people say it is better to save for the more expensive thing than cheap out, however I read in anouther forum that Hurricane makes tune-up kits that are half the price of the Systema. Now I heard that they were also just as good quality but I want to find out from more then one source whether or not I should buy the Hurricane Kit or save for a Systema. Keep in mind that I will be putting in a M120 spring.
Thanks in advance |

I would say that as far as finish and manufacturing, hurricane is NOT as good as systema, although i wouldn't say they are any better or worse as far as durability.
I can't say for performance either as I've never tried hurricane, but out of all the brands i have tested, systema has been the most consistent and have above-average performance. |

Now what exactly comes with a tune-up kit? From my understanding it comes with:
-Piston -Piston Head -Gears -Bushings -Spring -Spring Guide -Tappet Plate Is there anything else included in the kits? Or is that it? And how much do the Systema kits run for? Around 170CAD? |

-reinforced anti reverseal latch
-cylinder head -air seal nozzle -gearbox springs -shims Depending on the level FTK you're getting and depending on the gun it's for, it may come with other items such as low resistance switch/wiring assemblies, upgraded batteries, reinforced gearbox plates, reinforced cut off levers, bearings, etc. The price is dependent on the gun you're getting this for and the upgrade level you're trying to achieve. An M16 upgraded to M120 levels, you'll probably be looking at the Systema FTK99-11 kit which is the expert set for the M16A2. It comes with an M130 spring, but you can drop your M120 in there no problem. The next step down is the M100 and the next level up is the M150. I can get that to you for $264.96 + shipping to Ontario on one of my preorders. Taxes included. |

Well I will have to get back to you on that order because I just spent 600 dollars on a Metal body and tightbore and a few other things but I would like to get it way before spring.

It should all be fine and dandy. ICS M4s are pretty much identical internally to other M4s, except for the whole splitting mechbox and the anti-reversal lever. You'd want to keep your stock anti-reversal lever, because of the cool forward assist/decocking thing. If you do upgrade your ICS, be VERY careful installing the bearings/bushings. The holes in the mechbox are SLIGHTLY smaller than normal. You might be best off boring them out ever so slightly, and then lightly hammering in the bushings... but definitely keep the mechbox fully supported while you're doing it. I've seen a warped ICS box, it's not pretty. Really hard to tell visually whether or not there was any damage done, but it went through gears like a mofo, so we knew something was up.

I've built a number of guns using Guarder parts exclusively, and they are my most reliable. Guarder now makes FTK's as well - all the parts I'd normally buy all in one box.

So should I get Guarder or Systema FTK? What is the price of a Guarder FTK?

PM MadMax on these boards - he just ordered a load of them. Expect the price to be around $200...

I've successfully installed Systema parts into ICS gearboxes.
The Guarder equivalent kit is Guarder FTK-42. Preordered $163.42 + shipping to Ontario. If you're in a rush for it, I suggest getting it through someone who has it in stock such as MadMax. |

Well I am not in a rush but I would like to get it before March so I can install it before the spring.
I was reading another thread and I clicked a link that brought me to another spring comparison chart that said that a 8.4V battery was good enough for a M120 spring. Now I have a 8.4V 3300mah battery I would would like to know if that is good enough to crank over or will I need a 9.6V. I want to know so if I need a 9.6V battery I can order one at the same time so that I do not install the kit and have to wait a week or two to get a battery. Oh and I do not really care too much about my ROF because I am going to be more of a sniper and will probebly only use Semi-Auto anyways. |

Thanks alot for that link it answered all my questions and I guess that my battery is ok then. Oh and does the FTK come with stock ratio springs, torque up ratio, etc... From my understanding they are regular ratio but I would like to know for sure.

I use an 8.4v 2400mAh Nicd battery to crank a Systema M120S spring (which is a bit stronger than the M120) and it pulls perfectly fine with more than acceptable ROF..
